There was a Terry Pratchett Discworld game that I really loved but it didn’t last too long. I wish it was still there.

Definitely craving something in the horror-adjacent urban fantasy space - CoD, Unknown Armies, Curseborne, anything like that would be great.

My forever-want is gaslamp fantasy with a real sense of Victorian authenticity. Not necessarily “perfectly historically accurate”, but made by someone who understands what the social conflicts of the era were for the place they’re setting it, and has a real reason to set a game in THIS place and THIS time, with supernatural/fantasy elements that really lean into it. Spiritualism, for example – hell, something set in the Burned Over District would be great fun.

@Pavel I do have a lot of problems with v5 but I sure do love the hunger dice system, I think that’s fun as.

I more mean, everyone is Very Invested in Brujah not being a bloodline of the Gangrel Clan and etc and so on. For more examples, see all the arguments from when oWoD was taken out behind the chemical shed and shot / when nWoD first came out.

It’s not Brujah as a bloodline it’s Bruja, it’s different darnit! Grumble grumble.

But yeah I know. They did kinda cook themselves a little bit in trying to migrate a fanbase by keeping some things named the same like Ventrue, Gangrel, Toreador bloodline etc.

I forget who told me, but apparently, they also didn’t originally mean for Forsaken to be as heavily spirit-centric like Apocalypse, and also randomly decided to make the anti-yiffing rules even worse.

At least one of which is solved entirely by CoD, so huzzah!

(none of this stops the haters from hating, but shrug

I would like to see a Lords & Ladies game like Castle D’Image, or Crossroads, where it’s accessible, engaged players and staff, friendly but without having to learn a slew of backplot and systems like Arx, which I found kind of overwhelming. Evennia is a very complex system, with a lot going on.

Perhaps it was also back when I first played, but it was a time when I was naive and didn’t know everyone’s drama, though I was too young and dumb not to get swept up in it. I’d love to avoid that for a second round.

Maybe they are around though, and I just don’t knwo where to look.

I kind of get what you’re saying but I feel I should ask what do you mean by “learn a slew of backplot”? I think fantasy/L&L helps when there’s some level of depth to the setting, or do you mean the weight of years of history that Arx had?

@Rucket Could be ‘uncover the secret history’, could be ‘never get a plot run because your timezone doesn’t line up with any STs authorized to run the plot’. I’d say 50/50?

                          I had a dream that @RightMeow and @tsar and I all joined a game.

It was like a mystery sandbox. We all created characters. @tsar was the male hero, @RightMeow was the desperately tragic heroine, and I was playing a cop who never rose above basic level cop. We ended up buddy-copping to solve a murder the rest od rhe city decided to pretend didn’t exist.

And I was sad it didn’t actually exist.

I’d play that game. I just hope to write another ‘series’ that blows up all over the grid because I got cold and your grumpy char sent me a cloak. Good times.

Also, side note. Awwwww you included me in your dreamscape. ❤ I’m undeserving of that, but I appreciate it.

I rarely remember my dreams. Most of the ones I do remember are work dreams. I miss having the vivid, lucid dreams of my late teens and twenties.

The most recent dream I can remember is: A total stranger abandoned me at a Best Buy because I wouldn’t help them steal car stereo equipment from the store, and so I just hung out in the store until it got dark so I could go home without melting in the heat.

                                      My wishlist:

                                      1. A VTM game set somewhere interesting. I’ve been working on a setting/ruleset called ‘Olympus Mons by Night’ for >12 years now. I’m too old to run a mush, no freetime, but I’d love to see something interesting. And not multisphere. That NEVER works.

                                      2. Scifi space opera where I can be a blue/green/purple skinned alien girl and do mad science or psychic bullshit.

                                      3. I’d like to see a REGULAR FUCKING TABLETOP FANTASY GAME IN A REGULAR CITY, based not around tabletop stuff but like - game of thrones style. Not low magic. More like…what if BG3 was a mush? Or Spelljammer? None of you will know what Spelljammer is, I’m old.

                                      4. A technocracy game where players are ONLY technocrats, and the real life world is so messed up because the Traditions took over behind the scenes and are spreading anti-vaxx stuff/anti-science stuff/chaos to try and wear down the Consensus, so your kinda like scrappy x-com agents fighting against the anti-science crusaders of the Hemetic Order.

or, for that matter, an actual X-Com mush. But VINTAGE.

Multi-sphere works, you just have to scratch off the ‘everyone hates everyone else’ badness.

There is a new Star Wars game, and another in the works, but might not count.

I’ve pitched Spelljammer a few times, everyone in the hobby is old. Okay, most people in the hobby are old. Definitely old enough to know about it because the terrible 5e version dropped after COVID, plus the Spelljammer ship that showed up in BG3.

… the problem is going to always be what ruleset. D&D 4e is the only truly balanced version of D&D, and that balance comes with a cost (which is most people hate it).

While I agree that everyone overlooks the bad side of the Traditions, there’s plenty of bad sides of the Technocracy there to make everyone being on thier side a bit… tricksy.

I have never seen multitheme on an oWOD mush really enhance the game. It can work on say…nWOD, but not on oWOD.

Mages in particular just don’t work well with other themes. The problem is usually mage players. And there’s no…reason? to have vampires and garou together.

These games almost always work better as single-sphere games focused on that sphere. Again, for oWOD.

nWOD works well multi-sphere, works GREAT multi sphere, tbh. Its a much better game for a MUSH, imo, though I personally prefer the theme of oWOD.

                                            That’s just my opinion.

You are correct about ‘what ruleset’ regarding dnd, and also why people (including myself) hate 4e. I don’t know what the answer to that would be.

                                            Regarding Star Wars:

I’ve played SW games for 20 years and I’m a bit burnt out on it
