BRB making a few alt accounts to upvote all my own posts, since all you cowards refuse to give me enough microdoses of dopamine.
(:Public:) Ax (A) is curious what Kasia/Zephyr did that was bad enough to have not only her, but those people associated with her get their alts destroyed and their primary characters (some of who were on vacation) sent to the Old Guard Lounge and @passworded? Is that the new standard of dealing with people who investigate claims of sexual harassment here? Burn them and their associates? I’m just curious
(:Public:) Cujo
says, “Ax, you don’t care about any of those things.”

DO NOT SPEAK OUT, OR YOU WILL BE SILENCED, etc etc. Shocker.

The staff just imperiously announced ‘We’re skipping ahead fifteen years so that Rey and Ben Solo can have lots of babies! If you don’t like it, leave!’
Actually, it’s Rey and Poe’s babies on Age of Kora. Poe, played by Sumi’s player.
Still a better match IMHO.
POE IS MARRIED TO FINN, AND NOTHING JJ OR DISNEY SAYS WILL CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.

Since Derp and Ghost keep bringing it up, I’ll repeat a point I’ve made before:
People are going to keep talking about the community being hijacked, because at the end of the day, before any of this happened, any of YOU who feel the need to talk about bullies being mean - YOU could have made your own board, and made it however you wanted.
Instead, you decided to change the rules of the board we were all on and throw anyone who disagreed out. Which is the root of it all. And you know it. Because you keep bringing up how we went somewhere else and made the rules we wanted.
And it’s pretty fucked up how you keep rewriting history to justify the decision.
Another person banned for person attacks, despite making fewer personal attacks than Ghost. Maybe it was the big words?
Of course, they had to ban @Kestrel. You showed up with receipts about their hypocrisy. 12/10. Would also upvote if I could.
The new argument that this is merely the result of wanting more moderation and people are just mad that they are being moderated (because they’re super hypocrites and are now getting theirs), sure is a take.
People wanted moderation to fork threads or move them to different boards, and to ban the rapists or that one guy who sprouts up every couple months and tries to set everything on fire. So technically yes, more moderation was wanted.
But it is an extremely bad faith reading that the logical conclusion is ‘ban everyone who dares to speak out’. Pretty against the spirit of the job that was asked to be done, you might say.
I do care that VulgarKitten lied to those people, and I feel for them, particularly one who I personally admire who was really hurt by the lies. More importantly, she is sorry about it.
If she is actually sorry about it, perhaps she should admit that and apologize, and not pretend to be a totally different, literally new person, which fits the profile of the issues in the first place?

Yeah, she literally changed her username and started pretending to be a new person right after the banning- spree, and nobody has called her out on it.

@farfalla Ares logs are system-created and (to my knowledge) can’t be edited. I would probably take a regular log too, but that would mean I was playing on a non-Ares game, and ain’t nobody got time to go technologically backwards.
Yeah, they can’t be edited unless you’re a coder, because they come straight from the database and not a player’s computer.
THAT JUST PROVES THE CODER IS IN ON THE CHEMTRAIL FLOURIDE CONSPIRACY TO MAKE PEOPLE LOOK BAD BECAUSE THEY ARE AN ENEMY OF THE CLIQUE!!!111!!1!ONE!!!111ELEVEN!
I have, on occasion, wanted to do video essay deep dives into THE CULTURE, if for no other reason than to have it compiled and learn about some of the history (and maybe serve as advertising for the community?)
But oh god do I not know where to even start.
This is in GG and not R&R
BOLD OF YOU TO ASSUME THAT WILL STOP ME FROM GOING CAPS LOCK CRUISE CONTROL!
I have never seen multitheme on an oWOD mush really enhance the game. It can work on say…nWOD, but not on oWOD.
Mages in particular just don’t work well with other themes. The problem is usually mage players. And there’s no…reason? to have vampires and garou together.
These games almost always work better as single-sphere games focused on that sphere. Again, for oWOD.
This is part of the ‘scratch off the inherent every sphere hating each other’ I was talking about. Almost every sphere has mention somewhere in one of their books where ‘on the surface, they hate each other. Here are a bunch of ideas for how they actually work together behind the scenes’.
You are correct about ‘what ruleset’ regarding dnd, and also why people (including myself) hate 4e. I don’t know what the answer to that would be.
Theoretically copy/paste D&D lore onto non-D&D rules. Success will vary.
Regarding Star Wars:
I’ve played SW games for 20 years and I’m a bit burnt out on it
Fair.
My wishlist:
- A VTM game set somewhere interesting. I’ve been working on a setting/ruleset called ‘Olympus Mons by Night’ for >12 years now. I’m too old to run a mush, no freetime, but I’d love to see something interesting. And not multisphere. That NEVER works.
Multi-sphere works, you just have to scratch off the ‘everyone hates everyone else’ badness.
- Scifi space opera where I can be a blue/green/purple skinned alien girl and do mad science or psychic bullshit.
There is a new Star Wars game, and another in the works, but might not count.
- I’d like to see a REGULAR FUCKING TABLETOP FANTASY GAME IN A REGULAR CITY, based not around tabletop stuff but like - game of thrones style. Not low magic. More like…what if BG3 was a mush? Or Spelljammer? None of you will know what Spelljammer is, I’m old.
I’ve pitched Spelljammer a few times, everyone in the hobby is old. Okay, most people in the hobby are old. Definitely old enough to know about it because the terrible 5e version dropped after COVID, plus the Spelljammer ship that showed up in BG3.
… the problem is going to always be what ruleset. D&D 4e is the only truly balanced version of D&D, and that balance comes with a cost (which is most people hate it).
- A technocracy game where players are ONLY technocrats, and the real life world is so messed up because the Traditions took over behind the scenes and are spreading anti-vaxx stuff/anti-science stuff/chaos to try and wear down the Consensus, so your kinda like scrappy x-com agents fighting against the anti-science crusaders of the Hemetic Order.
While I agree that everyone overlooks the bad side of the Traditions, there’s plenty of bad sides of the Technocracy there to make everyone being on thier side a bit… tricksy.

Tempted, now, to write some passive-aggressive code snippet that looks for the words ‘how do I’ on a game’s Help or Newbie channel and just pages with “have you tried fuckin’ lookin’ it up, champ?”
ETA: I’ll be nice and make it only send for characters created 30+ days ago.
Shadowrun Denver has a great thing on the game itself: +document/find. It searches every +help or +policy file on the game, and in the past people have passive aggressively answered questions with ‘+document/find [word]’.
Sure is a shame about the other bits.

a fucking weirdo about it
As a(n honest) fucking weirdo about it, I am randomly reminded of that one NYC CoD game (not the Ares one, but I forget what the name was) where someone got extremely heavy-handed about my WerewolfLawyer chargen build, then heavy handed leading the first scene to the smut, then (allegedly) got extremely ick’d out by me trying to recruit other people to make a pack where they insist I telegraphed the implication that smut happened on channel.
Zany shenanigans were afoot, I just bounced entirely.
Now only the coolest of kids get my smut, after taking an intensive multi-choice questionnaire. Good Luck!

The last thing I want is Google giving me an AI summary of my TS.
I think if enough of us dedicate ourselves enough, we could finally break AI for good.

Arx also had a secret system that tied most into some aspect of the metaplot or history, giving every character something they could pursue out the gate that was more or less “theirs” and could hook in to wider story arcs.
To clarify, this was a system about Character Secrets, not a system that was secret.
No, the systems were secrets, too. Every time I tried to learn a system to be able to answer questions on help chan or to try to recruit folks, it always ended in more confusion.
