When someone asks for volunteers, and so you volunteer. But then they completely ignore your messenger, and don’t even bother with a token ‘sorry, no room for you’ response. So you’re left hanging until you see the scene they needed volunteers for begin.

Why do people say they want to RP with me and then…not RP with me? This is mainly rhetorical but also, is it me? It’s okay if it’s me, I’d just like to know.

Me: Hey wanna grab a scene sometime? I want to rp with you!
Them: yeah!

3 days later
Me: oh that person never asked me to rp, they were probably being nice, oh maybe that’s the brain weasels and i should just ask them, but they know I want to rp so why aren’t they asking me?
3 more days later:
Me: it’s too late to ask now and if they wanted to scene with me they would’ve asked, right? right.

And then it’s 3 weeks and I haven’t logged into the game and my anxiety is on HIGH ALERT and i’ll just play My Time at Sandrock because that seems really easier than asking people to play with me.

I really truly don’t want this to turn into a ‘Tell Snackness why you haven’t scened with her’ thing. I do get it. I have brain weasels too. And kids (well, one), and holidays, and work, and sometimes COVID. I’m just peeving. It’s frustrating sometimes.

I often ask this question too.

But honestly? I think this is a question that a lot of people internally ask.

“I would love to RP sometime!”
“Me too! Hit me up anytime!”
It will literally never happen.

“I would love to RP sometime!”
“Me too, what day this week would work for you? Thursday or Saturday is best for me.”
Better odds of it happening.

IDK why but it seems like heaps of people can’t get to the when shall we do this stage even if they’re the ones that initiated interest.

I can’t prove this but I get the sense most people who say they want to RP with you need you to be the one who reaches out to follow up because they take a failure to do so as rejection.

Dunno if that’s the dynamic with you, obviously. For all I know, you have been reaching out. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about that might or might not be useful to you.
