Allergy medicine +decongestant finally stopped the heavy runny nose… now I just have to get all the gunk that got into my lungs out. Not fun.
I thought it would be easier once we got home because home is ~1000 ft lower in elevation. Nope. It is actually harder to breathe. X.x Explain that!

I really appreciate all of this advice because while I really like my pulmonologist, my experience with asthma has gone undiagnosed so long and responded so positively in the short time I’ve been diagnosed that I just have, like… none of this information that people who have been dealing with it for years have.
In fact even my doctor maintains that when I was in the hospital at the start of the pandemic, I was probably having an asthma attack triggered by COVID. But no one could figure out why I was making that terrible wheezing noise every time I tried to breathe ecause it didn’t say “asthma” in my chart, so it apparently didn’t occur to anyone that was what was happening.
I did recently read something about Vitamin D supplements improving asthma symptoms if you weren’t aware of that, which makes sense to me given my situation. At the start of all of this they ran a bunch of blood tests on me to check for allergies beyond what they found with skin tests and apparently, I’m also Vitamin D deficient. And not like “your average extra pale North America white person who burns in the hellish light of the daystar” deficient. I mean, like, “We’re given you the industrial strength prescription Vitamin D pills we normally reserve for children with rickets” deficient. If your asthma isn’t well-managed, maybe it’s worth asking your doctor about?

My immune disorder makes my Vitamin D level 3. I understand.

Enjoying watching That’s Entertainment with a wistful, nostalgic smile for all the fond moments watching the full movies over the years when they get to the final number of Babes On Broadway and you just cringe.

So this stabbed me in the heart today.

This one hits real hard.
It’s one my resolutions in 2023 to be more proactive about my friendships, because I tend to do the same thing. I turtle, and wait for people to reach out to me, and it makes people reach out less, so I think they don’t like me, so I reach out less, so they reach out less, and…
AAAAAAaaaa.
-
So much this. The past few years have exacerbated it, too. Out of sight, out of mind, and it contributes to the spiral.
One of my 2023 resolutions is to go through and try to rekindle any that have kind of flamed out in the past three years that may be attributable to this. I think it’s going to be hard, but worthwhile in the end.

@Solstice Saaaaame.
I’ve tried to be better about reaching out to discord friends and the like, at least, like, once a year to say “Hi, I know you’re alive and I still think you’re neat.” I always hope that it will spark a more ongoing conversation.
It rarely does, and I’m sad about that - but at the same time, if I’m always the one reaching out, then it does start to feel like, “Ohhhh, right, I am more attached than you are, and I should definitely back off.”
-
@crawfish Yep. It me.
-
@Solstice This is why I do vibe checks on you and other friends. As a light prodding of ‘hey, I hope you’re doing okay and I still want to hear from you, even if I’m also using it as an excuse to drag you to my game because I enjoy playing with you because you’re awesome’.
-
@Pyrephox Same for initiating RP. If you don’t, it never happens.

I have a very nice, very warm coat that cost me a pretty penny when I bought it a few years back. My cats love to sleep on it, so it’s constantly covered in hair – but that’s not so bad, a quick wash and dry clears it up.
The other day though, I heard a distinct ripping sound, walk into my room, and one of the little punks was carefully but very thoroughly ripping out the stitching of the inside sleeve seam with her teeth. This is the same goblin that is always trying to rip the buttons off all of my clothes, just for the hell of it, and destroys every cord she can get her little demon paws on.
WHY
-
Due to storm damage at his school, my son is in remote instruction all week and I hate it just as much as I hated it the first time.
-
… ugh. How did the school not learn this sucks the first time!? Just give the kids a week off school. It’ll lead to less loss in the long run.

Addendum to the peeve: All of my damn clothes are covered in hair. I am consciously buying fabrics less likely to accumulate hair, and there are a bunch of lint rollers around the house but to no avail; it’s an endless loop, a game of whack’a’mole I can’t win.
