Husband was in the hospital with COVID-related issues most of this week. He nearly died. I couldn’t be with him, so I took myself to the state fair.
I am proud that I refrained from punching a dude there with an “unvaccinated, unmuzzled, unafraid” shirt.
Public games that still in the year of our lord 2022 are run by people who really only want to play with their friends and everyone else is meant to be supporting/background characters so their friends can be badasses. We are basically all middle-aged adults now. If you just want to run shit for your friends to be cool, run a private game.
That magical moment when you meet someone new and your brains just click. That’s a joy that never, ever gets old.

@KarmaBum This game in question has been reduced to two staffers and their favorites and mostly everyone else has been driven off. These staffers try to micromanage the RP of everyone who isn’t in their circles, and will intentionally run scenes so that their buddies get all the cool moments while everyone else watches.
Put in jobs and have a plan that you’ve worked on in scenes? Get told in the GMed scenes that your plans aren’t going to happen and you’re gonna take the plot on rails that you’re given and you’re going to like it.
There are some good people on this game, but if you’re not buddies with staff, all you’re going to get are social scenes and the stories you create… which you might get told to stop telling because it draws attention away from the people staff deem are important.
I’m glad they’re having their fun, but like, why waste other people’s time? I know I stopped wasting mine.
@Polk I know a dude who lied about his identity on Arx for years because he knew someone he played with regularly didn’t actually want to play with him.

His biggest tells:
Public meltdowns, flouncing from public chat
Relationship-trapping/isolating/wanting to impregnate female PCs
Often overstated about his life, but with varying details. Sometimes he has teenagers, and he will offer drama about them as excuses for him disappearing. Often claims to be a disabled vet.
Disappears from scenes without a word when he gets bored and then will come at you days later with a dramatic story and expect you to comfort him
He is very good at making women feel comfortable, ironically. He’s a good listener, or at least pretends to be, and is very good at developing ooc rapport. That’s what makes him so insidious.
I fucked up. I woke up after three hours of sleep after cleaning up after my incontinent husband who can’t breathe and I got a big mad about shit I thought I was over and I posted shit I shouldn’t have and then I got mad at myself and instead of walking away, I made shit worse. I screwed up and got embarrassed and lied to a dear friend and then he stuck his neck out for me and I felt awful and apologized almost instantly.
I’m sure just call this drama and excuses and it doesn’t fucking matter to me. I’m not going to start shit and challenge unfair or untrue assertions being made about me. I’m happy RPing slowly with a few chill friends and I have no desire to RP with folks who don’t want me around. I made this new handle to make a clean break and I fucked it up. Say what you want about me. Some of it is fair.
I am autistic. I talk too much and sometimes don’t know when to stop. I can be reactive. I get anxious and emotional and overexplain and when my brain isn’t working like it should, I don’t communicate well.
These board clearly aren’t a healthy thing for me, so I’m going to peace out. I know you folks don’t actually care. That’s fine. This is for @Testament and my relationship with him, not for anyone else.
I’ve had two days of work in a row now that have been meaningful and fulfilling.
