Thank you BMD mods for making it easier to rubberneck and preserve this trashfire…I mean stay informed.

I've played some games. I was Three-Eyed Crow on MSB and was/am Cidward/Cidvard lots of places. She/Her or They/Them

NGL the thing I’m trying to wrap my head around is this pile of refuse passing as a game not having a WORA/MSB thread prior to this.

RE: Topic Deletion Query and Feedback
I voted no due to the potential for abuse by bad actors but get why the Magicians guy deleted his post and think the kind of reception is worth reflecting upon.

I wish people didn’t always turn this into “if you’re not in action/plot its because you just prefer social things” that is honest far from the truth a lot of the time.
I was once told - by someone in control of plot stuff - that because I was a ‘social RPer’ and in a decent number of scenes (many of which I asked for) that I didn’t need plot involvement. It was a hell of a thing and like five years later I’m still mad about it.

RE: Why is Pack closing?
@Cobalt
Whatever worked or didn’t work about The Pack, I really hope the experience wasn’t too discouraging for you. Like I said lots of posts back, it DID seem like a game a lot of players responded to in positive ways, and I am really impressed with how you responded to an atmosphere that you didn’t feel good about being the gamerunner of anymore, because that was obviously really hard and Unfun to deal with this directly. I think it’s always constructive to reflect on why something didn’t work, or didn’t work for you personally, or get across what you wanted to get across, but I hope that doesn’t mean it was as wholly negative experience because you are a gamerunner lots of people like and respect and it’d be awesome to see another project from you in the MUSH space when you were excited to do it. -

I’m still pretty shocked Derp made up a multiparagraph theory wholecloth and tried so hard to sell it. Why? What was the benefit of that kind of speculation? I realize I’m speculating here, myself, but he’s more than welcome to come here and provide the answers.
That was the first moment I was sorry I was banned (apart from every time I try to find something on that mess of a board because the bad search is even worse if you aren’t logged in) because I would’ve enjoyed enthusiastically and repeatedly reporting Derp’s own post for violating his ‘you need to bring receipts’ and ‘no personal attacks’ rules.

RE: Weirdest Things You've Researched for MU*s
@Rathenhope
Spirit Lake was non-stop Googling small town infrastructure and businesses in Grand Lake, CO. I sometimes wonder if any tech people in that little town were ever like ‘Where the hell are these website hits coming from and why do they care about the high school marching band?’ -
RE: Bannings
Now the community seems fractured. Hopefully it is a problem that will fix itself.
I do think it’ll sort itself out in time. We’ve all been through lots of cycles on these many MU boards and for better or worse this doesn’t feel too different to me than the way the other ones came to be over the years. Not that it doesn’t bum me out, it’s a very niche hobby and having users scattered sucks just in terms of ease of use if nothing else, and the I feel for folks who’ve had actual strained or damaged personal relationships. It has been cool to see old names pop up here, though, you among them.
I’m not personally looking for any rhyme or reason to the bannings that went down in that thread, I doubt I’d find any answers I got non-aggravating anyway even if the MSB mods want to give them someday, so. So it goes.

RE: Good things in Mushing
I sometimes think that, for better or worse, I can’t possibly encounter people I’ve NEVER RP’d with anymore or shared game-space with. But sometimes I do, and not only are they new, they’re WONDERFUL, and that’s real nice.

RE: Concordia Thread
So about Concordia in the Concordia thread. Seriously, like Coin I was super-confused about if @Duke-Whisky was making a ‘game closing’ post or just bemoaning how shitty some players were in surprising ways and I wanna know.

RE: Shattered's Social Contract
It’s not a wholly original idea (credit iirc to @blu and @Roadspike though I can’t recall where they came across stuff like it). Has clarified some stuff helpfully as things’ve gone on, like it pretty well.

me:
NGL I am America Ferrera Existential Crisis Barbie 95% of the day, and the other 5% I wish I was some form of America Ferrera.
I try not to be too seduced by nostalgia because at least for me it’s a mug’s game. I read old logs and sometimes they’re great, but also sometimes the experience was clearly better in the moment than it feels in retrospect. Sometimes I have great experiences with people I met like 8 months ago while being kinda bummed out by people I’ve known for a decade. It all sucks if you do it long enough, but also all surprises can be pleasant. IDK.

What Do You Want Out of a MU?
For srs.
I’ve been thinking about this a bit lately. I think ultimately what players ‘want’ is situational/mercurial/subject to change based on competing interests, but also kinda curious.
My bare minimum:
- The availability to interact with larger ongoing plots regularly (actually doing so is on me, ‘regularly’ being a variable goal)
- Relatively open availability to interact with downtime/social RP a few times in a given week
I don’t feel like these are ambitious goals but idk.

RE: Concordia Thread
@Roz said in Concordia Thread:
FWIW I disagree with @Pavel, I thought it was Rough and Rowdy play.
It felt borderline to me. Like I don’t think pointing out that systems that were hyped as the new and different thing a place was doing aren’t in place is outta line, which was some of it. Other parts were a lot of the same nattering about This New Place Isn’t Perfect OMG I kind of tune out at this point and the tone was definitely hostile/snitty, but I’m actually not clear what gets something punted at Rough and Rowdy ATM and what doesn’t (mostly because I fail to read what forum something is in as often as not).

RE: Silent Heaven: Small-town Horror RPG
@somasatori said in Silent Heaven: Small-town Horror RPG:
ETA: On Silent Heaven, for example, there are no channels for speaking, but there is a ‘whispers’ system that allows you to kind of connect to people at a distance. There also isn’t a tell/page system. All of the OOC channels are on a discord, so the game itself is its own experience.
This something I’m genuinely curious about the logic behind. Doesn’t the Discord introduce an OOC element that the game itself is built around minimizing, if that’s the design choice being made? Was it just seen as necessary for some kind of OOC communication and the Discord was already in place when the game opened?
