@Aria There isn’t one nearby–there’s a couple in neighboring communities, but honestly the further away they are the less likely that we’ll use them so I was really hoping there’d be a reasonable option nearby. We live RIGHT up the road from what used to be a splash pad and a beach on a pond…that closed during the pandemic and now they say they can’t reopen because it’s in a state of disrepair. Sigh.

My RL Peeve right now is my cat and his homocidal desires towards me.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong in my life but this was the second time I had to unfollow Facebook’s automatic recommendations of some pretty right-wing videos this week.
Mind you, I don’t even like being targeted for propaganda with political beliefs I actually have.
Plus I’m Canadian, leave me alone Zuck!
-
@Arkandel Apparently, a bunch of the shit I’m interested in online ‘extracurricularly’ is more commonly enjoyed by right-wingers and it seems like algs decide that being interested in scholarly legal publications or writing for scholarly legal publications means I want to nail my libtard neighbor to a cross or host a bbq for Jordan Peterson while Prager U for Kids is blaring in the background.
Lazy algs are fun.

I want chocolate with crispy rice bits in it.
I also want an assurance that neither chocolate nor crispy rice bits were harvested by child slaves.
-
@GF You can have one or the other but not both.
-
@TNP So it seems, yes.
-
@GF Can you purchase seperately and then shove both in your mouth at the same time?

Dealing with a vendor that has absolutely crippled their customer service reps to the point where it’s almost impossible to talk to them. It is incredibly difficult to not be frustrated with the people on the front lines, even knowing that they aren’t responsible for any of the policy matters that I’m running into. GRRRRRRRR.

I frequently offer up “I’m not frustrated with you. You’re the nice person trying to help me fix someone else’s mistake.” Customer service reps seem to appreciate that one and it also generally makes them much more willing to escalate me up the phone chain.

willing to escalate me up the phone chain.
Save yourself a ton of time and go on social media. You are much more likely to reach someone who can actually do stuff going through a front-line social media CSR than a call center supervisor (who is actually probably not a supervisor, just a person who takes escalated calls).
The most effective method is if you can go on Twitter and @ the company and their competitor(s).

I don’t know if it is lingering covid or the start of the school year but I am tired. Right now I’m barely dragging myself through each day. If I had let myself stop today I would legit have fallen asleep in my chair.
But at the same time I am laying in bed but can’t fall asleep thanks to a running nose and coughing.
-
For real though, my money’s on the COVID.

My favorite was the cab driver who I’d just given a very large tip, that then told me I wouldn’t have broken my foot – and would also find myself a nice man – if I weren’t fat.
This was in 2014. I started using rideshare apps after that and the one who went on a racist rant specifically so I could leave reviews for people who needed to just Absolutely Fucking Not.

Our poor Level 1/2 teacher has been asked 3 times in the 10 days we have been back to school if she is pregnant.
She isn’t.
People need to stop being mean. It is none of their damn business.

When selfish pieces of human garbage in my neighbourhood decide that 4am is a fantastic time to… I don’t even know, start their fucking house party? Or maybe they just decided it’s a good time to start playing music loud enough that the entire neighbourhood gets to stare at their ceilings gritting their teeth while nothing but the thumping of bass echoes through their heads.
And maybe if I lived anywhere else besides bumfuck bloody nowhere I’d have some recourse like being able to call noise control, or the police, or… something. But the nearest of… either of those things is at least 18 miles away and will want to know the address the noise is coming from, which I can’t give, because I’m not going outside in winter at 5:42 in the morning now to try and find which house exactly is making this god forsaken noise.
I’m tired, I just want to sleep. Instead you all get to watch the cracks forming in my sanity as I rant wildly into the void in the hopes of venting some of my frustration before I do something ridiculous like screaming out my window.
-
it’s going to be a busy weekend rp wise and rl wise–but i’m also feeling super under the weather. not covid, and at least no barfing, but like…ugggghhhhhh.
-
@mietze I think this is just the ‘new crud’ going around. No energy, no ‘real’ symptoms of being sick, just no gas in the tank and a craving for soup.
