On condition of his FeLV test coming back negative tomorrowā¦
We adopted the kitty they recommended to us - a ten year old little man currently named Steely Daniel, which is absolutely fantastic as a name but weāre generally not jamming out to āReelinā in the Yearsā.
I am trying to convince insomniac that his name should be Sir Catrick Stewart, instead.
He has a snaggle toofs and a wonky eye that weāre hoping is just some glaucoma and will be taking him to our regular vet ASAP to confirm.
Random Update on This Cat:
I do not know why it took this dude five months to get adopted. Heās fucking awesome. Adopt old pets, guys. Theyāre great.

1 year, 8 months, and 8 days ago, my little boy Shadow died. One day I noticed he was eating less and losing weight. Then he stopped eating completely. Doctors couldnāt find anything. Less than 3 weeks later, he was dead. He was 14.5 years old. t was horrible. But at least I still had his mother, Sable.
Last week, I noticed she was feeling bonier than normal. She was always thin and underweight but not like this. I took her in for and exam and blood test, hoping it was her thyroid. Thatās very treatable. Blood test results, if not normal, didnāt indicate anything that would be the cause, just symptoms. Yesterday she had an ultrasound.
There are masses in her abdomen. Without further, expensive testing, they canāt be absolutely certain but it almost certainly is cancer. The vet said three times how sorry he is. Sheās 16.5.
And now I get to go through it all again, this inexorable journey towards a yawning abyss of overwhelming, crushing grief and not even one of my kids left. My heart is breaking already and I can only hope it really does on the day thatās inevitably coming.

@TNP I donāt know of its the microplastics in the water or what, but this is exactly what my flatmateās cat a few years ago, and then more recently her dog, both ended up getting. Like, literally the exact same thing, both of them. Leading to internal bleeding, which didnāt help anything. We made sure they both had the best final day as possible, but shit suuuucks.

@TNP I am so, so sorry.
-
@TNP My condolences.
Itās so hard to lose your furry buddies, especially to something like cancer.
-
@TNP Iām so sorry. It fucking sucks.

Sheās dying. The most important part of my life is going to be forever lost to me along with our little boy. Iāve scheduled a vet to come tomorrow. I just wish the vet could have a second shot for me.

Iāve felt keener grief for animals in my life than I have for humans. Iām very sorry youāre going through this.

I canāt explain it. She got better. The day before the vet was scheduled to come, she started to improve. Began to drink, eat, was steadier on her feet. The next morning, she obviously wasnāt back to normal but I canceled the vet. Today, itās like nothing was wrong. We both got a reprieve.

@TNP I just had something similar occur this week. Sicker than heās ever been in his entire life, nobody slept all week, and then suddenly, tail up, ready to eat again.
