What have you stolen?
-
When I first created a discord account I made it the name of a character @KarmaBum had. Because I thought I was very amusing, stealing her character name.
Except I didn’t realize you could change it again. So I thought that was my discord name.
Forever.
I left it that way for years.
-
i stole my whole ooc writing style from @Tez
CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL
-
I aspire for all of my descs to read like @Tez wrote them forever.
-
The secret to writing descs is to write it for someone else. I am WAY too self-conscious as a writer. The descs I would write for myself would be very boring and straight to the point. Write for someone else and you can make them HOT AS HELL and it’s NOT FOR YOU so NO ONE CAN SHAME YOU.
Oh god now I see what meg means about the caps lock.

Oh crap is THAT where I got it from?

I’m pretty sure I’ve stolen plenty of stuff for RP purposes over the years. I’m also as sure that I’ve never done it consciously. I’ll just adapt something into my RP for some character and randomly get paged asking if I’m player of X from game Y.
-
@MisterBoring Yeah, I’m sure I’ve accidentally stolen a ton of stuff. But sometimes it’s also a really conscious choice, lol. “Oh I like how she did that, I’m gonna start doing that!”
-
Oh yeah I have definitely stolen loads of stuff on accident but it’s harder to say for sure what, because I tend to absorb vocabulary from friends / books I am reading / sometimes my own goddamn characters. The word “vibes” infiltrated my own dialogue after I started playing a character who used it a lot. Fuck.
-
I also stole using the word ‘Beat.’ to break up dialog where pauses were indicated, but then I had to stop using it when I stopped being friendly with the person I stole it from because it felt too connected, lol. Now I just say “Pause.”

I use “beat” so you can steal it from me now.

I know exactly who you stole this from. I did, too, although I usually flesh it out to something a little more like ‘she pauses for a beat’.

I also stole this and I only saw it used in RP once. I just get worried I’m putting too much talking text without expressing body language but if there’s too much description of body language there needs to be more talking but not too much talking so…
beat
Yeah.
-
@Dreampipe That’s definitely why I took it! I find it really useful. I replaced it with “pause” but now I can say I stole beat from Roz.
-
Huh, maybe that’s where I got it from then. I always say beat, pause, etc.
Are we too incestuous a hobby?

I have stolen a lot of things over time. One of which is opening a scene with a [Before] and [Now] in the set, especially if it’s to get in an easy joke like [Before] Char: “I will never do that thing again” [Now] Char doing that exact thing.
-
What have I stolen.
PBs.

This makes me laugh like every time.

It’s absolutely the best trope.
