@junipersky She has no idea wtf she’s talking about because she’s a child. You don’t have to/probably shouldn’t tell her that, but you can hold it close to your heart and tell yourself that her opinion in this situation has no weight.

I lost my dad to this sort of thing this year, it’s awful. I am so, so sorry you (and your mom) are having to deal with it.

I know it is hard and I respect people wanting privacy so much.
Kid walks in this morning crying. His father died over break, like, early break. It is true. Teacher is blindsided and has no idea what kind of supports are needed.

The parent(s) of student(s) at my district were picked up by ICE and detained. The student(s) are with family, but it’s still shaking up this tiny-ass rural, progressive island community. And it’s shaking up me too even if I’m white as Wonder Bread.
