No Vampire? A bold decision.
-
I am reading the policies and under idle you have ‘Characters who have posted a scene in for 30 days will be set to ‘Gone’.’ I am guessing it is suppose to be ‘have not posted a scene for 30 days’.
-
@Popes Vampire is listed as a choice.
-
@icanbeyourmuse It’s not; we have Changeling, Mage, and Demon right now.
-
@icanbeyourmuse Hang on, I gotta go delete a lot of characters.
(thanks for pointing out the typo)
-
@Tez Haha. That is the only one I really noticed. Mostly because it made me do a double take.
A side note. I am a big fan of all the info you guys have available.
-
I somehow always get a werewolf out the gates first, regardless of which sphere I normally try to focus on, so I’m curious to see what (if anything) I eventually do end up making.
I have a couple ideas, but want to know about ties to other folk first.
-
I’m a big fan of the splats y’all chose. They feel like you can actually tell some cohesive stories with them. Vampire, to me, always felt like a game at a distance from anything out in the world, insular and mostly disinterested. Not necessarily how it got played, but it felt thematically jarring next to Mage and Changeling.
-
@discoarse I’ll admit we looked at those because they were favorites of our coder (mage) and designer (demon), layered on top of a start in changeling, because that was a favorite of everyone else.
That said, the reason we went with them is because those groups all share certain themes. It makes them easier for a more PvE style game. They are all clearly opposed by NPC factions which were relatively easy to tie together. I agree with you view of Vampire. It did not lend itself as naturally to that shared story.

Crow is working on it.

-
MAYBE?
-
Changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling
I could scream with glee
-
highkey wanna play here but it seems like I have to be familiar with the books to know what I’m doing
-
@Artemis You need to have access to the books to look up stuff, but you do not have to be long familiar with them. MANY people here are not long term CoD players. I have to look up stuff alllllllllll the time.
-
Not at all. The wikis are useful for lore, as is Codex of Darkness. And you can always ask! I know a decent chunk of information about Changeling and very little about the rest.
-
@Artemis you definitely don’t have to know them, I had never personally cracked a WoD book before cg and I got through it. the documentation is good and staff and people are very helpful, so long as you’ve got the source pdfs.
not to say i didn’t scream internally and externally when trying to actually USE my sheet.
-
@Artemis I’m not going to say you don’t need the books, but you can definitely get pretty far without them. If you’re just going to be there for RP and Vibes, learning as you go is valid, and there are some merits that are self explanatory enough you can probably get by with what little is on the Codex that Rinel mentioned.
But the pdfs do offer a lot of clarification that people will point you at if you’re having trouble finding it (which is reasonable, the formatting of those books is a nightmare).
Edit to add - and if you’re unfamiliar with 1e nWoD, bonus points, you don’t have to unlearn years of precident that no longer applies.
