Liberation MUSH

I’m glad the game’s back up, with everything intact. But one of the main reasons I didn’t fight the timezone problem too hard was behind it going down in the first place.
I tried, really I did, but when Polk got allowed back into running a sphere I stopped being invested.

@Hinotori I don’t think Liberation has an official, dedicated server. I believe this is referring to the general community MUSH Discord server MuHaven. We are currently discussing the matter and should have a decision this week.

Looks like ingrained historical memory on WoD games strikes again.
I bet Polk reacted like that because of past experience. How ironic that he did exactly what he probably experienced on TR/Fallcoast or whatever but went one step beyond. Because as really insufferable and frankly mean as I’ve seen Thenomain be on channels on other games during that era during their meltdowns, at least they to my knowledge never attempted to shut down a game during a tantrum. And largely (and by appearances also realistically) expected it to be ignored/blown over with a half-assed apology if that because well, MUSHes have a long history of tolerating bad behavior by people who code. I wonder if Polk thought that now that he thought he had the keys/was the one who Sundance relied on for such things, if he would be forgiven too. It seems to have worked for a long long time on Liberation (since alpha, when the first warnings were sounded) but eventually the jig is up. And Theno is capable of being charming and has broader skills that just being “the tech person” and also I’ve not heard or seen any raging since I quit TR, while Polk isn’t capable of that and is currently still raging.
I think it’s pretty important that a gamerunner always have a backup for when the tech person goes full antagonist. And certainly never someone who the gamerunner is trying to pity contain after giving them multiple chances.
-
The idea of trading out Polk for Thenomain is hilarious.
-
all people who can code shouldn’t be trusted. there, i said it.
**eta: no, i changed my mind. you can trust Tat. that’s it.
-
@Meg I never trusted any of you.
-
Honestly there are some people who code that honestly I don’t know or even really care if they’re weird at some personal level, as they do awesome work and never do mean shit or talk down to people in public or game channels or on game interactions. I find there’s also a hell lot more diversity in who learns to code games or websites/wikis and the like now than there was in the 90s and some of the old fogeys have mellowed. Many mushers now can also afford the $10/mo or whatever and plenty of people would pitch in. We’re not all kids at home or starving 20s anymore. So it’s just not a guarantee that a gamerunner will forgive your bad behavior. Eventually.

I’ve never been more confused by how events escalated.
X: “Haha, Kithkin, am I right?”
Y: “Hey, don’t badmouth Kithkin.”
Z: “Uh oh, I think he’s going nuclear!”
Y: “Oh yes, I’m going nuclear!”
How.

@Jumpscare oh dear, it wasn’t about that joke (lame as that joke was). This is your classic example of intense insecurity coupled with entitlement. Very clearly polk felt threatened by thenomain for awhile and this was just what caused him to lose it.
-
@hellfrog
Thanks, I can see what you mean. Sundance’s escalation of assuming Polk was going nuclear was so confusing, followed by even more confusion with Polk then confirmed he was going nuclear. It was almost like they were speaking in a foreign language, what with the amount of baggage that must have predicated that conversation. -
@Jumpscare Shame they broke up. They deserve each other.

This used to be me, so I can’t help but feel a little sorry for him.
He’s still a shit, though.
-
I just got on MuHaven and I’m a bit lost. I was told Polk was talking there and I can’t find anywhere he’s spoken.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, if there is a right direction?

lmao
Flips out and rage quits that Discord server for his friend not being able to make a transphobic ‘joke’ that multiple people were offended by.
Flips out and rage quits Liberation for someone he dislikes making a very clearly sarcastic unoffensive joke about kinfolk.
Is this dude for real?
-
I’ve known Theno for a very long time. We don’t get along overly well, but I trust him to be professional about the important stuff.
He’s many things, but he ain’t Polk.
-
@Evilgrayson I mean, Theno got kicked off of MSB staff back in the day for abusing his access to private user information. I wouldn’t trust him with important stuff.
Although I do think he gets a ton of mileage from being “the WoD code guy” and agree that he’d be less likely to do this specific thing Polk did, if only for the sake of his reputation.

disagree it wasn’t an offensive joke. It was backwards and deeply unfunny, which is the most offensive thing a joke can be.
