Just a little grumbling, allow me to vent a bit.

I’m just tired and sad that since I’m not in the same timezone as most MUers, it really impacts on my ability to enjoy my hobby because no-one is around. I enjoy the collaborative, interactive nature of MUing. I like how anonymous and throwaway MU*ing is.

I understand, I have a job like most people and I’m only around in the evening too. No-one I know rl wants to MU* so I can’t recruit people who are available when I’m available.

I am proactive - I run prps, I try to make rp links and throw out rp hooks. It just bums me out that there is rarely anyone around to do the things I have planned with. I try to set things up only for them to fizzle out or never get off the ground because I can’t schedule with other players.

I can’t get involved in prps or MU* plot because I’m not around when prps or staff run plots take place. I’d love to make certain character types, but since the group I’d be involved with aren’t on when I’m on, there would be no point. At times I just wonder why I bother with my hobby at all. I really don’t know what the solution is. I don’t think there’s any sci-fi Ares-style MU*s that support async rp?

In a world where Eldritch horrors exist, reality is so unlinked to our actual reality that there is no need for racism, sexism, homophobia etc. All of the usual rules and logic that apply to our world (from physics to how society operates) have been thoroughly broken.

Andor has made me want to dust off my FFG books and run Age of Rebellion again.

This is why I like Ares (and will probably never play on a non-Ares game again). It’s so much more inclusive for people who can’t log on for solid 3-4 hours every night or a couple of nights a week.

ETA to be helpful: @SpaceKhomeini I’ve run FFG (EoTE and AoR) as a TTRPG. I LIKE FFG SW. I’m not the best online (or rl) GM but I’m available to run scenes if you give me story beats. I’m in Europe so would only be able to do disjointed or async scenes, so if that’s a no-go for you then no worries.

I think it comes down to whether the game runner is emotionally intelligence or toxic in their approach to running the game. Everything follows from that.

@L-B-Heuschkel I’m not surprised I’m not the only one they said this to if it is the same person.

This took place some time between 2006-2008 so, honestly, all I can say is I hoped they worked on their marriage or they both found spouses they were more compatible with.

Reminds me of the time someone accused me of causing their husband to threaten divorce (because the player spent too much time MU*ing, I think?) because I had to quit a scene before we started due to rl on my side.

I was like, well, that’s an unfortunate situation but that is not on me.

I mainly ask for rp. I tend to suggest scenes on the local rp channel or put up a post looking for people with PC interested in similar activities.

Worst response when trying to set rp up: We have NPCs for that.
