Pika distanced herself from the game quite some time ago. So, when the domain lapsed, those of us who wanted to see the game succeed continued on without her. Hence the moving of the server

Random observation: The telnet access is what makes Ares accessible to visually impaired players. Which of course doesn’t rule out having the coolest web portal ever.
