Good things in Mushing

Having a hard and reserved character, then encountering other characters who are able to slowly but surely crack that shell.

As somone who tends to play characters that are very different in private than they are in public… yes.

It’s bittersweet when a game closes its doors, even if it is for the very best of reasons. But it’s sweet enough that it still makes the good things list if you had fun there. If you told good stories. If you got to indulge in the #aesthetic. If you met some amazing fucking people.
Which I did.
Pour one out for the games that don’t quite make it to launch, but it’s still more sweet than bitter.

When you’re not at all sure that something you worked really hard on is going to land well…and it lands really fucking well.

I’ve had a vague roadmap in my mind of where I’d like a long-running character to be by the time their story eventually ends, and I couldn’t have ever predicted how those milestones were eventually met.
Today… I don’t want to say they received closure, but were the mantle to be set down right now in this moment (not saying I want to), it would be on a really nice note, which is all I could wish for an OC that was created in… like, 2016 or some bullshit… who’s been put through the fucking wringer in a lot of different ways. I’m really grateful for their story going to a peaceful, positive place.

Good thing in mushing: other people reacting to a big dramatic thing you did as a big dramatic thing.

Using ChatGPT to create my BGs and desc. Enter in an idea, edit the response to cater towards what you need it to, and good to go.
Might be a hot take, but damn it’s made my life easier.
-
@Testament No lies. It requires some tinkering because it’ll stick some powerposey stuff in there, but if I’m on an Ares game or somewhere where I just do not give a shit what my long desc looks like, it’s a lifesaver.
I also use it to summarize long-ass theme files. Or even swaths of RP that occurred before I drop into a scene so I can get an idea of what I’m walking into.

When you are exhausted from major life changes and just winging everything but it seems to turn out at least okay.

Cutie lil character first kisses. 🥹

People who actually act like a welcome wagon when you’re new and don’t know anybody and ask “do you want to meet so-and-so? They match your concept in such-and-such way.” It makes me feel like I joined a more natural community.
-
Feeling like I get to flex a little with the kind of character I love to play, in my preferred genre, finally having the mental capacity to actually feel like I can both RP and be creative at the same time, and starting a storyline I’m getting really excited about.
I really missed RP. It feels so good to be back.

Ares for having Asynch. My life is too much for real scenes, but I can at least show up to these and run them!
-
Absolutely. Over the past two months or so, essentially 100% of my RP has been Ares Asynch. But I’m still attached to the overall game, with the possibility of getting back into live play in the future. I have really come to appreciate that feature, though I know it doesn’t work for everybody, just like traditional play isn’t working out for me right now.

We’ve enjoyed having you!

When you/your character go into a scene with a certain idea and it evolves into something even better because of the added views and inputs of other characters.
