AI theme and poses are a bit more concerning since those things really require some sort of personal touch otherwise why not just rp with ai… there’s all kinds of stories about people doing so and even falling in love. (I’m not calling this wrong
I am one hundred percent fine calling this wrong. Better than fine, even. Confident. Righteously correct. This is on the level with someone who wants to chop off both their hands so they can have the Dorrance #5 Stainless Steel Hooks they’ve always dreamed of. I don’t think they should be ridiculed or anything, I think they need help, and that nobody should be in a position where such a thing is possible.

@Flitcraft What if their hands aren’t functional?

I believe the original reference was to people who feel they should be amputees, rather than those for whom it is medically necessary or prudent.
ETA: The technical term, I have learned, is Body Integrity Dysphoria or Body Integrity Identity Disorder.

I don’t have anything against AI generated images for face claims, though these images aren’t art and shouldn’t be referred to as such. I generally prefer human-made digital art and have my own personal image folder of stuff I’ve collected over the years. Whenever I make a new character I just flip through and pick something.
Again though, I’m coming across less authentic art these nights and my cache isn’t growing as much as it once was. Annoying.

In this the year of our lord 2025, why are people still allowing bad actors in their game community? Why is there a concern with “we have to be fair” to people who are toxic to staff and other players, totally obnoxious, or otherwise a bad fit? It’s a mush, not a constitutional right, if they’re no good for the community then EVICT THEM.

@Ashkuri name names, name games!

I think the short answer is that the person making the decisions doesn’t know for sure that they’re a bad actor.
They might have heard rumours. But people lie. And every messy conflict has two sides coming away with two different inaccurate stories even if they don’t -think- they’re lying. Gamerunners aren’t wrong if they want to judge a player by their firsthand experiences with that player rather than an incomplete narrative.
Disclaimer: I’m not on the grapevine so don’t take this as commentary on any specific situation that might be currently unfolding.

I think it’s a combination of this and one of those old nerd fallacies about avoiding exclusion, and it’s that latter idea that causes the most problems. At least anecdotally.

Every day I am grateful that the community has shifted away from this batshit behavior. IF THE VIBES ARE RANCID, BYE BYE.

I’m also grateful that as a hobby we collectively kicked all the edgy racists and misogynists to the curb. It’s the best.
