I had higher hopes.
Bleh.
eta: this hurts my heart guys. Bleh bleh bleh. I really will miss what used to be there. Another something I love is no more, and that sucks. A lot.
-
Don’t mind me, just compiling a list for @Tez when we feel the need to fly off the handle and conduct a bizarre purge.

bizarre internal metrics that banned @Narson for saying basically the same thing as @Meg who they rescinded the ban on, while simultaneously deciding that Ghost is a part of the community they want to keep but not @Roz or @tsar
The cynic in me suggests it is all a shitty attempt at Crisis Management PR. Unban Meg because she set up the discord where people discussed. Look how kind and magnanimous they are. Ghost because, look, they even forgave one of M**ing’s most persistent haemorrhoids.
Meg and Farfalla shouldn’t have been banned in the first place, I’m not even sure Ghost should have been - it all stems from those initial bad decisions. But I’m fairly sure I was less of a dick than Ghost. I just asked why Arkandel wasn’t in trouble for posting after the ‘Don’t post’ second warning when others were. I’d guess they still don’t have an answer beyond ‘We are inconsistent and unethical, and were embarrassed at how inconsistent and unethical we were being’. Oh well, nothing of value was lost. I wasn’t a huge contributor to MSB. And we have a place where admins haven’t had to warn other admins not to blame the victims of sexual assault. Which is nice.

@Snackness Yeah, you absolutely did nothing banworthy either and you aren’t alone. Sorry I didn’t include you in my examples of wtaf. Clearly I think you and @tsar come as a set.
-
@sao Fair!
eta: also I didn’t mean to come off as ‘BUT WHAT ABOUT MEEEEE’ though I see how I did and maybe I did mean to a little because I’m still wtf-ing.
-
There are those that were banned that I do not often agree with. Others I’m unsure if I actually like, but I by no means wish their voices silenced for nothing more than dissent. For having an opinion.
It’s morally wrong.
-
Should we take bets on how long it takes for that thread to get locked?
-
I’ll admit the arbitrary nature of the whole thing (both the initial wave and the latest de-bans) bugs me on some level, even if I’m still fine with and more ‘lol that was wild’ than anything else about my ban. End of the day I still mostly just want to move on.
-
@Third-Eye Yeah, same. But my innate sense of justice is still smarting. It will pass.
And as @bear_necessities just told me, “much like sound, there is no justice on the internet”
-
Mine is likely never going to get lifted, because it was after they stopped banning people at the drop of a hat when I called Gamy a coward and told her she should ban me, too. So I technically requested it.
But whatevs.
They have repeatedly shown that they want ORDER IN THE COURT so until Gany and Derp step down and they find someone else who can act ethically to step up, I will keep my toys in the sandbox where I am at least tolerated, and nobody is vocally looking for an excuse to kick me out.
-
@Jennkryst “Control must be maintained.” And this is usually achieved by any means necessary.
-
@Third-Eye said in Bannings:
just want to move on.

I will post this here, as I did there.
At this point he should just rename the site MuDerpBox.
-
I already had a foot out the door when Derp was made an admin because that guy’s bad faith arguments and unsubtle misogyny weren’t what I felt were good qualities in an admin. I was proven right on that way sooner than I expected, tbh. Ganymede being dumb enough to get taken by Macha’s social manipulation and then her inability to handle it when her chain of bad decisions blew up in her face convinced me that she’s not admin material either.
I didn’t care if my ban got reversed because I posted deliberately to get banned and I also wouldn’t go back even if it was. I am now more fascinated to see how it all works out for them going forward but more in the sense that I wonder if the dumpster fire is going to catch the adjacent building on fire than any actual concern. When I posted what I did to get banned, I was done and am still done.
-
It really feels like Ganymede has just decided to let Derp drive it into the ground out of some need to avoid losing face from reversing a decision.

I think it’s shocking after so many discussions about game staff resorting to bans as the only punishment… only for bans to be the only punishment in use in this circumstance.
