MU Peeves Thread

Hey there!
I am slightly amazed you figured this out at all, let alone after so much time! But upon referring to this post:
https://brandmuday.mythicus.net/topic/121/tsar-s-playlist?_=1761253660522
I think you are actually spot on, so great detective work!
As I mentioned in the post, I don’t dislike you (or anyone else from that scene) in any way. I was just using this thread for its purpose, which was to vent about some irritation I had about it on the day.
Honestly, I have not spent the intervening time stressing about it or plotting heinous acts of revenge, so we are all good as far as I am concerned! In fact, I would go so far as to say that my gripe was not with you at all, so much as how the others in that scene responded to your character vs how they responded to mine.
TO CLARIFY! (since I now remember this!) I think you absolutely warrant people being happy to see you. But despite my being as nice as I knew how to be on that game, what I remember I would often see was…
Pacha logs on
Pacha greets folks
crickets
Tsar logs on, a short or a long time after
It is one minute after midnight on January first
Which I completely appreciate is an unreasonable thing to be grumpy about, especially given that this is mostly down to random chance, people can say hi to whom they like, I don’t know who was awake and at their screens yada yada…so it could absolutely have been an “all in my head” thing.
But in my defence, this is a peeves thread, not a fully justified and reasonable grievances thread!
In any case, yes, I am all good, and I hope you are too.

lol oh thank god, what a relief.

TBH me finding out at all was a total fluke of someone mentioning it in my presence and I was like what?
And yeah, you’re totally okay using this forum for its purposes. I can completely understand logging onto places and feeling like the other players don’t really notice that I’m there or I’m just existing around the outskirts. I think it happens to pretty much everyone at some point, and it almost always sucks.
If you see me out in the wild sometime, drop me a page! Maybe we can get a scene in!

Enemies to besties, 40,000 words, slow burn…
ETA: After seeing the date of the original post is 2023… very slow burn.

@tsar This whole entire development has just been encouraging. I think it says a lot that you were willing to acknowledge Pacha’s emotions and experience even though you were unaware of it happening and also that it wasn’t the motivation of your actions.
It also says a lot about @Pacha for being able to acknowledge your position in the situation. While also not allowing these interactions to create a negative viewpoint.
So kudos to both of you!
At the end of the day we’re all human with our own lives and struggles. We don’t know how our actions (or the actions of those associated with us too) can be interpreted by others. We also can’t know the motive of others actions who we interact with. MUSH is behind a screen and most times we don’t know the person on the other side.
We may become friends over time and we may meet some of these people, but for the most part we remain strangers who share a love of escaping our reality through adventure. Yet, somehow our interactions with these people can still impact us and others in ways we can’t anticipate.
I’ve viewed others as being part of a ‘clique’ before. Either shutting out people or monopolizing rp and I admit I’ve let myself either be offended or get self conscious about it. Likewise, I’ve found out down the road that I have been viewed as part of a clique, monopolizing rp, or having some sort of fan following.
I know on my end none of that was my intention. Which made me realize. If I know it wasn’t my intention isn’t it possible that I’m misreading others actions the same mine were misread? I’ve given a lot more grace to myself and others as a result and overall it’s made rp a lot more fun. It’s also ironically helped me create healthier boundaries as well.
Sorry for the long ramble, but this took me down an encouraging thought trail and yeah tl;dr basically:

-
Effort is required to make any hobby fun. Art, music, dog training, knitting, being good at Call of Duty, gardening…
And building a MUSH
And being a player on a MUSHYou get out of it what you put into it. Effort.
-
@Ashkuri I definitely agree, and I’d like to expand upon your thought without overriding or “correcting” you.
I want to add that while it takes work to make any hobby fun, if it’s consistently more work than fun, then it might be time to reassess. Obviously, there are going to be instances where you’re doing a lot of work, particularly in the setup phase, but you should eventually get more fun out of it than a feeling of work.

Agreed. The moment it becomes more work than fun is the moment it’s an unpaid internship, and those are largely gross.

@Yam If we all had a dollar for every time this happened, we’d all be oligarchs.

Self peeve: Find fun game I enjoy. Immediately hit with fatigue that makes thinking hard.
