Yeah, I mean, I could have done that, but adding to my block list on my firewall is a single CLI input, and showing ass requires so much more energy in my case.

So, hey, not asking for a tutorial here, but could you expand a little bit for the cheap seats, in case any of the audience wish to be able to do the same for themselves?

You can use the New-NetFirewallRule command in Powershell to add the IP address for MSB to your block list for the built in Windows Firewall. The command would be something like:

New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Block MSB" -Direction Outbound –LocalPort Any -Protocol Any -Action Block -RemoteAddress

Make sure to put MSB’s IP address after the -RemoteAddress parameter.

You can also go to Windows Defender Firewall from Control Panel to do the same using the Add New Rule wizard if CLI isn’t your thing.

And you can use a utility like https://get-site-ip.com/ to find the IP for any site you may wish to block following similar rules as above.

Yep, or Resolve-DNSName in Powershell.

Also, as a tangent, if you’re on Windows, Powershell is awesome compared to regular old command line (though Powershell will refuse to run certain programs it sees as a security issue).

Obviously, be aware that blocking an IP can result in losing access to other things hosted on that server unrelated to the website. Not an issue with MSB, I believe, but an important note to remember for future blocking.

Much belatedly, I do agree that people should stop going to msb and stirring up stuff. From my reading it is basically giving them the ammo to claim they were in the right and made the right decisions. They are basically claiming everyone who left are meanies.

I cannot bring myself to care what anyone over there is saying or thinking about me. They’ve crafted their narrative that requires them to conduct as little self-reflection as possible, which makes sense. It’s really hard to admit when you are wrong!

I just don’t think that anyone should go over there and bother with them because it’s boring and a waste of time.

Power’s been out, got some sleep, chilled out. That last exchange was already my impetus to log out of MSB – wasn’t trying to go over there and start shit, but see if their current most prominent poster (by volume of words, if nothing else) was willing to identify and work on his own issues and hypocrisy. I probably shouldn’t have been venting here, at the same time, but I did mean it when I said I’m out over there. I like starting shit to a degree, but it’s not productive any longer. The wagons are circled and it’s not the place for me. I honestly hope they achieve what they set out for in making it a better, more positive place.

I made a post about the bannings (as I got home and caught up). Then Derp posted. Then he deleted it but I was 10 paragraphs into my response.

Well, my bad.

Also, not that I’m involved (or my opinion matters in the grand scheme of things), but I respect all of you. I have enjoyed all the interactions even if I didn’t agree. I don’t think this was warranted. I know everyone is joking, but I’m sorry that it happened to you.

Now, back to the lies and slander.
