Feeling like you have become the bad guy and enemy of fun because your RL has gotten uber busy so you can’t RP as much as you used to (or really at all), and causing a ripple effect on someone else because of it.
I mean, I’m sorry, but as much as I enjoy happy fun pretend time, my RL life comes first. Always will. I’m sorry that your character is tied to mine and my lack of being able to log in has caused you grief, but what is the alternative?
It just sucks.
@Wyrmsign did not in fact give me grief over my RL, and I never said they did. I said that I was feeling like the bad guy because my lack of available time was causing /them/ grief.
How it made me feel is on me, not on them. Being overworked, overstressed, and not sleeping is probably making me take it in more of an emotional sledgehammer way than I usually would, and I’ll admit that.
If moving on will make them happy, then I wish them the best. I really do. I’m just disappointed it happened and was expressing that disappointment.
@L-B-Heuschkel Funnily enough, I worked with Raph for years when I worked at SOE, and he was doing Star Wars Galaxies. He’s a smart cookie. Knows his shit backwards and forwards.
@junipersky Long story short…my RL blew up. They aren’t having fun anymore because of it and want to move on. I’m overly stressed, emotional, and having a depressive episode and took it hard, making me feel like shit.
Nobody is in the wrong here, my emotions just are fucked up right now and I thought throwing it out to the ether would be therapeutic.
I was wrong, and probably just made it worse.
@Jumpscare That’s the thing. On paper to my knowledge, this shouldn’t be the case. The person in question should be able to go off and do their own thing regardless of me being around or not so I am not sure how or why this became an issue that got laid down at my feet.
Trust me, it sucks just as much if not more for me that I can’t get on to RP as it does them, but at least they have the ability to get on and RP at all, so I don’t know why I became the bad guy in this particular instance.
It baffles me and makes me sad. I don’t know if it is the depression talking (probably) but it’s enough to make me just toss my hands up and retire the character even when my schedule does get more manageable.
@MisterBoring No. It has staff. It just doesn’t have a lot of staff. Whereas most games this size would have dozens of people on staff, there is only a handful.
Reality is, yes, it could use more, but Sun likes to keep the narrative and it’s easier to do with a few hand-picked people.
