Found out about this union forming fairly recently. Their action fund is far below where it needs to be, and two of their members have already been fired from their jobs. And no, this isn’t a joke.

Go support the Strippers United Action Fund. Make a difference.

Please note that this is not a political forum. Discussions on the pros and cons of unions, the ethics of sex work, etc, etc aren’t needed here. Just post links to other causes or people you want to spread the word about. (This is also not a mod post, so go off if you want I guess. Just don’t be a dick.)

Transitions Project is a large organization helping out with the homelessness crisis in Portland, which is at a high level right now. I’ve worked directly with them before, good people who are trying to help get people homed and into work. A large focus of their work is on veterans.

The National Domestic Violence hotline. Right now, the Depp/Heard trial has the potential to have a massively chilling effect on reporting. It also has the potential for a lot of people to realize they’ve been abused. Either way, incredibly important work that needs support.

I’ll always advocate for Médecins Sans Frontiéres/Doctors Without Borders. Medical aid is apolitical.

I’m always in support of feminism (not the vocal type where certain feminists harp how men are evil and bad and should be treated as lesser beings), racial equality, gender equality. Well, pretty much anything equality. Perhaps a bit counterdictive (lazy to look up the proper spelling) to that is that I’m all about people doing their culture/teachings. Sure, some of those are with ‘men are superior’ or something but if all the people involved are not against it and it isn’t about abuse, let them do their culture in their way.

I’m also in support of religion doing religion as they well. some people in religions are crap, just like in anything.

BUt more specific focused and touches on more personal feelings of mine (I’ll spare my rants about it):

PS. I am also a strong advocate of people spending time with the elderly. Relatives or not. They often have interesting stories to tell and isolation is a very real thing for them.

@icanbeyourmuse That first paragraph feels like needlessly leaning on the political/hot-button lever.

@Pavel It was more ‘This things should gain more support/funding and talked about more in depth but not interested in the hurts it can cause people and I am a lazy person who only looks up links at random/when I am thinking of it a lot of the time’ (the orange shirt day and the red dress stuff are ones I constantly think about)

Though, the comment about the feminists who are more anti-men was probably petty/very hot button. That one I’ll apologize for.

@icanbeyourmuse Not really the vibe I was going for with the thread, but okay.

I’m neither an expert nor a local, but these seem like good causes worth more attention. Thanks.
