What's up with the two Age of Heroes games?

Enthralling
I literally warned sockmonkey just above it wouldn’t be!
In a similar spirit, let’s summarize that whole Miss Sinister thing then:
“I’d like to app this character.”
“Interesting! Powerful character, would need a nice villain plot arc really. Would take a lot of work and nerfing to make this an RP character.”
“It’s just for an RP character but I shouldn’t have to nerf them because of characters x, y and z who got allowed before.”
“Right, in that case no. An app like this is a lot of work for staff, you’re far from being a regular player who has a history of generating RP for other people to justify that work.”You made totally valid points about inconsistency in previous apps, it was a major problem HAM had. Prior mistakes are not a good source of precedent for future decisions though.
Apart from that though? Chaucer was perhaps a little brusque. It’s really not a compelling grounds for complaint against a staffer, though. Nor is “but prior history, please police things that happened in the past on some other game.” I honestly think if you re-read that exchange with an eye to impartiality you’ll agree in retrospect it just wasn’t a big deal.
Didn’t you and Chaucer used to be friends? This is a tiny hobby, and it seems a shame when two generally perfectly reasonable people end up fighting over miscommunications, or someone having a bad day and saying something ill-advised (we ALL do it sometimes), or whatever. I have no idea what your past issues have been, but we’re not talking about a Ditko or whoever here, after all – and it behoves us all to remember we never have the full picture. Wouldn’t it be better if you two buried the hatchet?

@Meg Facebook? Really? xD

@Colette i said what i said. you gonna come at me with sass for telling the truth, gonna have to take it.
Honestly, you’re doing yourself and your side no favors strolling in and ‘asking questions’ and then retreating behind ‘it was only a question!’ about shit that happened a millenia ago in a different world while when you do allude to something, it all can’t be spilled because of privacy!! While arguing again, about mostly shit other people have told you.
Like, this is solid advice. Either let those people come defend themselves, or defend whatever staffing decisions you have made, but don’t defend other people unless you know something and can affirm one way or another with it. Otherwise you just are being weak and ineffectual.

if you’re trying to promote and defend your game smarmy condescension is a really interesting choice

-
@Meg Well that’s me told, off to a nunnery I guess.
You’re under a misapprehension. I’m here to satisfy my own curiosity about what makes a certain section of this hobby tick. I’m not trying to defend anyone who could come here and defend themselves if they thought it was worth the effort, I said that right at the start. I literally keep calling Vorpal Furry Satan made MU*nifest after all. Because it makes me laugh.

So really, the takeaway from this is that the two headwizzes are Chaucer and a Chaucer apologist. This is going to go exactly the same as L&L.
-
To those of us mostly in the WOD/COFD sphere, this is kind of like when Sundancer told us Polk wasn’t really that bad.

Maybe one day we’ll have a superhero game not run by abusers.

I know of one in the works, but I honestly think there is something about the genre. I largely agree with Alan Moore’s perspective on it.
Double post but what? This largely implies that World of Darkness games or Star Wars games or Lords and Ladies games don’t share the same issues and, uh, lmao.

dredging up of ancient dramas over who slighted who in a game I probably never heard of a decade or more ago
I know Im late to the party, but…

Yeah, the issues are tied to the hobby and not a specific genre. There might be some validity to the concept that some genres attract more of them than others, but I would argue it’s probably not a giant gap.

It’s the same with “man, WoD players” or “man, comic book players”. The venn diagram of MUers who play WoD, Sci-Fi, Horror, Comic Books… might not be a circle, but the overlap is so much larger than anyone really seems to think.

Pretty sure in any hobby, any undertaking done by humans on this planet, if there is a way for a person to have even imaginary authority and/or influence over other humans, there is going to be an issue with sex pests.
