Oh, and for the people wondering what sort of ‘creepy’ things she sent him. Which, he obviously gave her his address willingly. I talked to her about it. It was a stuffed animal bat for his birthday because she felt bad when he felt like he was going to have a shitty birthday.

Wow, fuck that guy. I know nothing else about him and this alone is enough to make him the biggest piece of shit on the forum in my eyes.

Get shit on, @Cygnus . Just fucking peace out and never return.

I veto’d it because of the speshul snowflake behavior you exhibit. You are not a team player you are a ‘how does this benefit me and how can I be the brightest star in the sky’.

That’s not a bit consistent with @Cygnus as I’ve known him. It is consistent with the list of complaints that are so common that you can apply them to anybody and have a good chance of not getting questioned.

This is odd, but. As somebody who sends fellow MUers things in the mail from time to time, I have always supposed that anything at all might be creepy if unexpected. This is why, if I ask your address, I will tell you I plan to send something, and also tell you that I will throw your address away after. I keep that promise (until/unless we agree that snail-mail exchanges may become a regular part of our friendship) and will never send you something out of the blue. Because that’s creepy.

I can agree to disagree on the behavior. It is entirely possible for two people to have two completely different interactions with a person. It is the behavior I have seen and observed from this player. From my prospective, based on his actions on Liberation, Retro and here, that I made the right call.

We will say in a hypothetical situation that he just gave her his address on a mere whim that she wasn’t A. Planning to visit him or B. Not planning to send him something but simply for grins and giggles since I can’t think of any other reason off the top of my head someone would ask for my address. Then the responsible thing would have been to calmly and politely state ‘Hey, I’m appreciative that you thought of me on my birthday but I’m not comfortable with you sending me stuff. Could you please stop.’

If they didn’t, my first reaction would not be to go to the head of mush and expect them to stop it. That isn’t a rational thought process. I understand he’s your friend, and your trying to stick up and find a plausible reason for this reaction but it just doesn’t make any sense at all that he is a victim in this.

What does seem plausible is that they have had a falling out of their friendship and now he is slinging shit.

@MayorMccheez The ‘went to headstaff’ bit was news to me.

I’m just saying that getting a nice present in the post can be a creepy thing and pointing out that it was a nice and not creepy present doesn’t change this possibility.

Honestly, we’re more friendly than friends. We’re not close. I had fun RPing with him. I would play with him again. I’m not on Retro, and a major reason for that is that there are players and staff there where my experience has been that they do have habits of being manipulative, gatekeepy, mean, dishonest, and likely to smear-campaign others. So that happening here seems plausible to me.

OK full disclosure: that post was about how I laughed.

like a disgusted, “why is this community like this” laugh…but I kind of needed the laugh?

There is a lot I find myself wanting to say, but I think I’m just going to keep this simple.

Thank you to the Retro Shifter ASTs (Jaskier, Mr. Gutsy, Navi, Pumpkinhead), I’m so grateful to have 4 incredible people helping the sphere, and the game at large. My incredible team initally fielded what turned out to be a pretty horrific situation until I and the other HSTs were able to step in. Something I wish they’d never had to do.

Thank you to Cujo and Siren, for being open and receptive to information sharing to aid in keeping our shared communities safe.

I want to be clear, I am absolutely open to this kind of cross game collaboration. Feel free to reach out if something like this comes up.

I’d also like to share, that this is now a three site ban with Liberation joining in.

Being one of the people who read the logs, I’d like to say:

                          May they find no quarter.

                          Player Ban: Lilena 16:33:42

                          Hello Liberation,

Yesterday, it was brought to my attention that a member of our community has recently been removed from a couple of other games due to, candidly, grotesque and appalling behavior involving children and adult themes. After carefully reviewing evidence by coordinating with other game runners, as well as players here, I’ve confirmed Lilena to be the offending player, and that her conduct warranted immediate removal from our own.

To think that I need to reiterate this publicly is gut-wrenching, but after reviewing this evidence I feel it bears repeating: Every PC and player must be at least 18 years or older. And ANY character involved in an sexually intimate or suggestive scene, be they PC or NPC, must be explicitly at least 18 years or older. Attempting to spoof child NPCs to skirt our rules and engage in inappropriate RP will result in immediate removal.

My decision to take quick action on this breaks several of Liberation’s arbitration policies, and because of that, I believe owe you all a great deal of transparency. Normally, the process to ban a player here is a lengthy one, and one that requires alignment across members of staff and directors. We also typically do not take actions on players here based on their conduct on other games or social forums. There are exceptions to every rule, however, and these sorts of things are always reviewed case-by-case. I felt, in this case, these exceptions apply.

World of Darkness is full of nasty, uncomfortable, and oftentimes challenging subject matter. Unfair power dynamics and intimate themes are a backbone that form the spine of the horror genre. These are themes that, when approached and embraced with a mature attitude and the gravitas they demand, can create compelling narratives for us all to engage in. But that engagement requires trust and tact, and when a player’s behavior demonstrates a foundational lack of both, they will be removed.

If you hear of Lilena’s player attempting to re-join Liberation under a different name, please escalate to staff immediately.

                          Love always,
                          Siren

If you are part of the IT Crowd for Werewolf or Vampire
(coughcough a ST for one sphere but playing in another sphere coughcough), this is a GREAT game.

If not, may the odds (of being noticed by STs/players/etc) be ever in your favor.

This game had potential after jujube/inuki/pikachu/etc left but still has that the feeling of, if you’re not part of the ST crowd, don’t bother. 🤷

ETA: I will say the game is better without the toxic former headstaff but still has the clique energy. Do with that what you will.

Agreed. We stopped playing werewolf as a pack, it just wasn’t working out in a way that was fun for us. The story really focused on one pack for a long time, and by the time that stopped, if it stopped, I think my pack lost interest in playing. It’s terrible because I really enjoyed the character I created. I put a lot of creative thought into that character and would try to really RP and get involved.

Which is the staffer there who played the de-facto PC leadership for vampire on Liberation and appeared to make it so players could choose between a) taking risks for and licking the ass of a “leader” who insulted them, openly informed them that he’d fuck them over at the slightest chance, and never rewarded them, and b) being unable to be involved in any plot?
