I found a game to play, sure I wouldn’t be impeding on anyone’s fun while I dealt with medical issues, went out for cancer surgery, and it had closed. Just sad and disappointed that happened.
-
@Nynrose It was a shock to a few of us and I’m sorry that happened to coincide with a tough time like that. I hope that all goes well and you recover quickly. ️
-
@Pavel I’d probably do some kind of AI or cartoon. It would feel mean to pick a real person for such a deliberately shitty concept.
-
What game?
-
@GF I’d say it’d depend. Would it be truly subpar, or “Hollywood subpar”?
-
-
Fear not, I have many dumb ideas for new games brewing, surely brain will make one pop into existence.

Your point stands though because I will desc up as 30A and people will pose like the character has massive mommy milkers, even when my poses are like ‘actually… no’ Which means they’re not paying attention to what is happening so why am I there again?
people do not understand boobs like at all, i have seen “the size of her head” and it’s a D

I still stand by your sexy factor, etc is less PB and more RP. Sure, sure your PB can be great or whatever, but if you can build a story with me? Chef’s kiss.
I seriously can’t put into words how much I hate the comic game trend of not even bothering to write a desc at all bc “everyone knows what they look like

@Prototart i could not play them if i wanted to because of this, it’s super ultra lame asf

I seriously hate it so much, like, number one it’s an opportunity to show your ability as a writer (the only times I’ve met somebody w a good desc who was just awful somebody else wrote that for them) and number two, just, that isn’t even true, this isn’t DC in 1980-whatever, there’s like zero consistency between artists? Like Illyana was drawn as a waif, a pinup, and a fitness model by different people all in the same miniseries.

I kind of fine the idea of ‘opportunity to show your ability as a writer’ to be needlessly judgy, tbh. And I do enough descing in my normal poses.; I find the exercise of sitting down and actively trying to write a description for my character that is just a description so mind-numbingly boring that I don’t bother. And that’s okay.

Plz let me just submit a log of RP to demonstrate my skills as a writer. Or just assume I am awesome because people glance at applications and go ‘yeah I’m not reading all that, make it shorter’

i was like 8 when i started MUing and they trained me to write those gigantic like marvel handbook style apps and it’s like hardwired into my brain now
i like writing descs tho, it releases dopamine to the part of my brain that downloaded hundreds of Japanese computer paper dolls

I tend to think of characters as your dating profile. The more effort you put in, the more reasons you give a person to want to go out with you (read: do scenes with you). I like that analogy because, like a dating profile, different people are looking for different things, so if you’re not interested in selling yourself like a product to other players, that is a perfectly valid choice.
-
@GF I’m now going to @desc all my characters as if they were holding large fish.
-
My new desc:
Felt cute, might delete later.
-
Some people are good at writing descs and some aren’t, and being bad at it/not wanting to doesn’t detract from your skill as a writer. Im just saying to have no desc at all will never not be lame to me, it’s literally how im able to picture a character. To be honest, no, a lot of people do not adequately pose their character’s looks in a scene, because it is generally the cultural norm that they have a description for reference, or a pic!

I am so envious of you.

You can play a bossy character with an IC title who micromanages everything while waving that title around. You can be a slow poser.
What you can’t - or at least shouldn’t - do is be both of those during large, plot-critical scenes. Because now that your PC has ICly appointed themselves the only one permitted to act or make decisions, your 15-20+ minute paragraph long poses (and they’re always at least 15-20+ minutes) force everyone else to endlessly wait. I’m sympathetic to being a slower poser for whatever reason, but when you’re constantly making yourself into a bottleneck in plot scenes where everyone only has three hours at most, it’s just disrespectful of everyone else’s time. Play something else, write shorter poses, whatever.
