Dealing with the nuclear bomb that is stage 4 pancreatic cancer in one of my favorite people to walk this planet, I gotta say it makes you plug all the energy leaks in your life very very quickly. When people say they no longer have tolerance for bullshit when things like this happen, it’s a thing. Feeling guilty for having any kind of joy is a thing. Feeling a desperate driving urge to drop everything and fly across the country to try and not feel useless as the person you love and their family drown in the real, heartbreaking, fucked up tragedy of it all is a thing. So I’m sorry I’m not around. I’m sorry I’m quiet. I’m sorry that all of my focus is on something so harrowing and important; I have to bear witness to this. I’m not going to choose anything different.
ETA: I can’t keep screaming with my family about this, so the void of the Internet will have to do.
A reminder to everyone:
Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t be victimized. Just because you think you know better doesn’t mean you’ll always listen to the red flags. Just because you’ve handled shit before with grace doesn’t mean you always will. Just because everyone in a community says ‘oh man, so-and-so is such a good dude, you should ask him for advice/insight/resources/whatever’ doesn’t mean he can be trusted or he’s without flaws, or that if he sends you an unsolicited dick video that ‘you should be flattered’. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t speak up or no one will believe you. And just because you flirted back because ‘really, everyone says he’s such a great guy/leader/whatever, the problem has to be me’, doesn’t mean you were not victimized, or that your feelings about being victimized are not valid.
I don’t know if this is the right place to put this, but I hope it reaches the people that need to see it. We have got to stop blaming ourselves for other people’s shitty behavior.

Feeling adopted by an amazing batch of writers is nice. Expansive imaginations and vocabularies and they put it all together in amazing ways. And they seem to enjoy my weird. It’s great. Like really great.

Realizing a stranger you vouched for and brought into Arx might not be the best fit. But I did apologize and was forgiven, though I was still pretty embarrassed.
Kicking a player out of your bedroom in an absolute panic when they log in and you’re in the middle of very graphic scene and really, I could have handled that better.
