The absolute assholes running for the school board just posted a picture from a family member who’s child doesn’t even GO to our high school shit talking specific admin and coaches by name.
And if I comment I become a target again AND amplify their message.
I’m so frustrated.

How is that professional? I can’t with school boards. I’m on the PTO board and we have this unspoken but common sense rule about how to conduct yourself/behave on social media. I’m always shocked when I see what other parents have to go through when dealing with school administrators and school boards.
-
School boards are been targeted heavily these last few years. We have a robust district community discussion group (over 5 figure membership level and all stakeholders welcome) and that has frequently weeded out the stupid people. Nothing like publishing a q&a written response questionnaire and seeing who never bothered to respond and which candidates are like “I’m unfamiliar with that.” On even basic things.
But that was organized after we had people with white supremacist/Christian nationalist ties run 2 cycles in a row. Good times.
-
Many school boards do have policies for how to comport themselves on social media, or at the very least agreements on how they will do so. Unfortunately, school board challengers aren’t held to the same standards because they aren’t school board members yet – and because the alt-right whackjobs running for school boards don’t care about policies, rules, laws, or societal norms unless they’re screeching about how being welcoming to minorities of any sort (besides themselves) impinges on their “religious freedoms.”

@mietze – I would love to have a community discussion group like that in our district, even if 5-figures would be the entire voter base of our district (or more). Getting people to engage with what’s going on with schools when they don’t have a problem is super-hard.

having a suspicion for a long while that people have been very dishonest with you/have been trying to make you feel bad in really underhanded, shitty ways.
even if it turns out not to be wholly true, it’s a lousy, exhausting feeling to have. I have had plenty of legitimate reasons to worry about my physical/mental safety from some truly awful monsters in my life and I’m just tired of dealing with petty people who can’t grow up who try the same tactics for astonishingly childish reasons.
-
I can’t go into details b/c it’s personal family stuff, but by god today was an absolute shit-show. Just a complete and utter shit show. I am so tired. My head hurts. I wish I could just go sleep for a month.
-
For the love of god and all that is holy will people please do their own damn work and not ‘help’ me by doing random bits of mine, putting the tools and/or materials I need to do mine in new and undisclosed locations, and clogging up every work-space with their own shit, which I don’t mess with because it’s not mine, and which they don’t deal with because they are too busy fucking with my shit which I have repeatedly asked them to leave the fuck alone?
Come on, ffs, why the fuck can my dog learn “leave it” at 14 weeks old but I go over this weekly with adult humans for years on end to no avail?

My job is killing me with stress and eating my time and energy while numerous mediocre white dudes are leaving several minute voicemails on my phone daily about how I’m not doing enough to help them. The reason I’m not doing enough to help them is not that I am slacking off mostly but that my time is occupied helping other people who it is also my job to help and there are a limit to the number of hours in the working day. I do work longer than scheduled sometimes but I’m playing catchup from 10 days out with covid and while each individual I speak to claims to empathize with this, in aggregate they all continue to be explosive bundles of whining about why their case is not magically over already.
P.S. you would not want your case to be over because the things that it is taking me time to do are things like locate YOUR witnesses.
While typing this rant I just got another voicemail from a client I have not yet met, asking me to do a legal task for him that is not part of my job, which would require me to be or have a notary public (which I’m not).
I’m tired.

I’m being melodramatic but I feel like I’m dying and honestly debating just saying fuck it and ordering an Uber to the ER. -.-
-
@Cobalt hey, you doing okay?
-
@hellfrog I have been throwing up for days now which means I’m not keeping my anxiety meds down so my brain is screaming at me that I’m dying. The ER says it was just a kidney stone tho.
-
That’s still gonna suck till it passes. So do what ya can to feel better!
-
Hope you feel better @Cobalt. Kidney stones are awful.
-
Take care of yourself out there. My SO got the new strain of Covid and it’s pretty awful. She’s been bedridden since Saturday. Definitely worse than the first time she got it a couple years ago.
-
@Testament My boss got fucking clobbered by it and had a similar experience. I’m hearing a lot that this strand is worse. I went and bullied the whole house into hurrying our boosters as a result.
-
@Tez I just got a verbal offer for a new job and I’m terrified of coming down with Covid too. So I may be getting another booster before getting the written contract. It’d look not the best starting new job and then calling out because of Covid.
-
It knocked me on my ASS. Take care of yourselves.
-
I still have some of the pain and fatigue over 2 months later. Please please consider getting the booster if you’ve not already done so. I’m pretty sure had I not had the paxlovid access I would have had to go to the hospital.
