@Quibbler I wanted to try and do the bridging thing too, but I don’t think I ingrained Bhandn into things enough to pull it off.

Prism actually decided not to accept that power. She and Skald are instead living as a comparatively normal, undivine couple instead. It’s very sweet.

I assume she still has magical ability, because she had also been a mage, but she’s no longer divine.

When did Skald step down, and who/what, if anything, filled the role?

If you talk to a hard determinist IRL, they’ll tell you it was exactly like our own. 😁

ETA: From Seth Dickinson’s EXORDIA (recently released, quite good):

“Anna, I came to Earth tracking a very old story, a story that goes back to the dawn of time. it’s very unlikely that you’ll die right now. It wouldn’t be narratively complete.”

In the finale months, after Orichalcum was killed and writs were removed from the Dream, Azazel was real PECKISH and went and ate Legion (and Fable and Ruin). That meant that Skald either needed to kind of mash together with Vellichor in some fashion, or give up his divinity and power to Vellichor. He chose the latter, because Skald likes being himself and being embodied in the Prime because it’s more fun. But he did save a bit of power for Aleksei and Prism (although Prism, as mentioned earlier, declined hers).

Azazel ate Fable? Huh. I thought… Huh. I am either misremembering or never knew correctly. I thought the Devourer worked for Fable. Was he his own agent the whole time?

              He was Fable’s Herald, yes.

              And then he ate it.

@Rinel Nothing replaced Skald. He gave his power to Vellichor. Choice became an aspect of Knowledge.

@Roz Oh come on now. Aleksei can have a great adventure collecting all of the Dragon Balls Diamond Rings first. In like three main plots, with about 109238712937 side plots (the filler episodes).

@dvoraen What? Aleksei doesn’t assassinate people.

Berenice does (have people to do it for her).

I don’t THINK so. The True Lyceum shifted into incorporating “keep an eye on the black diamonds” as part of its purpose, because it needed things like that, but it wasn’t the OOC goal to hunt down all the PCs. The general idea was that the order would become responsible for keeping track of all of them, but in a – future sort of way. Because we didn’t want it to be like we needed to know a bunch of PC secrets!

Fair point. I’m sure Berenice will look fabulous wearing all the Diamond rings that aren’t people.

But really I just wanted to riff off of Dragon Ball Z and adventuring, and that seemed more Aleksei’s thing.

@Snackness I think in a story setting, not a RP game with players, it would have been different. But we were trying to balance with the fact that these were PC things! Mostly just trying to have a niche where thematically someone should be keeping an eye on things, and it used to be Malrico always knowing where they were, and then he was dead, so.

Good for everyone’s survival to make sure they at least weren’t being collected by cultists or whatever.

I had a Megalomanic goal to get the Oracle’s crown. Gianna had some link to the sirens I think, which I am very curious about (@clue 2227). Mostly when I brought it up the response was NOPE you’re gonna DIE so I eventually stopped pursuing it. I always wondered, though.

There was also the thirteenth crow dream (3033), which made Gianna decide she wasn’t going to tie herself to team good guy or team bad guy but instead try to… bridge between them.

As previously mentioned I’m definitely not the expert on Oracle (or Copper), but I think the ‘crown’ was metaphorical, like it wasn’t an actual object or anything, think of it like the way people use someone having the mantle of something. Oracle taught/bestowed Copper the ability to use time magic, which was otherwise unique among mortals (and now immortals). I remember someone sending Watcher a messenger asking after the crown, and her response was that she had no idea what that was really referring to, but that any power over time vanished from the Dream when Copper did.

Watcher did not know this firsthand, but she wholeheartedly trusted the person who told her both in that she would definitely know, and that she had no reason to lie about it.

So blah blah blah it isn’t possible for anyone else to learn time magic, at least in Arx 1’s setting.
