Baldur's Gate 3

Karlach is the absolute bestest most dorkiest character in the game and she sustains me.
-
Karlach is seriously my favorite companion, but it took so long for me to find her in game that I’d already picked my romance out for this run.
-
I now have four different characters. I have yet to leave Act 1. I’m okay with that.
I pointedly made a Githyanki to hit on Shadowheart because she hates Githyanki.
-
@Aria This happened to me, finding her late, but I hadn’t made up my mind. The Gale Romance bug almost did me in but I hung in there and while it made the romance with Karlach feel rushed, I still like it enough to stick with it.
I’ve got a Sel-Drow that’s a Dragonic Storm Mage and I’m keeping her for Astarion, I think.
I’ve got a Halfling Spore Druid named Tarvia @Tez and man she pisses everyone off just by existing. I don’t know who I’m gonna romance other than try my best with Everyone I Can In The Game so we’ll see how that run is gonna go.
Like really I have seven more runs planned already and they’re all gonna be different I don’t know I’m just having a good time.

I got some great spore druid armor the other day and thought of you.

Ha! I was also playing a Sel-Drow in one of the campaigns I just totally wiped in an attempt to clear the terrible bugs I was having and she was the one romancing Astarion.
I think they made sense in my head because I was like, “Yes, yes. Two characters who belong to a race that most despise and react to with horror, but who aren’t like those other Drow/vampires. They will be terribly mistrustful and snarky with each other right up until they start relating hard and then the starts. Yessssssss, this will be delightful.”
Sadly I lost 45 hours of play, still didn’t work, probably trading in this laptop because FML. I was almost finished Act 1. I’m planning on recreating the run as best I can so I can finish out those plotlines. Need my ridiculous vampire elf romance back.

Astarion with the Glove of Thievery, Happy and Silver Pendant (Guidance Cantrip) feels so mean against traps and locks.
+9-12 on a roll with Advantage. Those poor chests stand no chance against Vampdaddy.

There are a few traps I’ve run into with a difficulty of 30, but otherwise… yes.

Omg literally the first ones that could be a challenge
Getting the Monk engine to work has been satisfying.
-
@Duke-Whisky There some traps that are also difficulty 30.
First time a challenge rating made me sweat.
-
@Testament - Yeah those sounds like the first ones that might be challenging, else Asterion does make exploring a little easy mode when given some specialist gear.
-
Convinced my bioDad to buy the game and this man goes to bed at 9:30 pm only calls me on the weekends and he calls me
on this past Monday
at 9:38 pm
leaves a voicemail saying ‘I have questions about Baldur’s Gate’.
So I call him the next morning:
“I CAN’T JUSTIFY KILLING PALADINS FOR A CHATTY TALL ONE-HORNED DEMON CHICK THAT’S ON FIRE.”
Well that’s fine, Dad, more for me. And also you’re missing out.
He’s having a hard time with figuring out what the ‘right’ answers are for his character and I told him he has to let go of that. It’s not supposed to be obvious, buddy.
He’s enjoying himself. It’s a deep, story-driven, complicated game and I love how wildly varying so many of the playthrough stories appear to be.

Shadowheart and I shared a similar reaction to Karlach
-
@somasatori I DID NOT HAVE HER IN MY PARTY AT THE TIME RRRGHHHH. Astarion talking about how she can break him in half made me laugh so hard.
-
Look, there is a reason I call her Mommy Karlach even though it’s not like that.
(ETA: On this playthrough. >.>)

It may be helpful to remind him that Paladins in 5e aren’t good, they’re idealogues.
-
@Pavel He hasn’t met Minathara yet, clearly.
-
In my encounters with her, Min seems to have this problem with chasms. It’s absolutely tragic.

As far as I’m concerned, Minthara’s purpose in life is being robbed of her armor.
-
@Aria - Her casualwear is also very fine on Shadowheart.
