not going on a hurt feelings rant moments after they make a post asking for feedback to improve
-
Well all I’ll say is the Domain System isn’t dead. They’re literally setting up for the first official Crisis phase of the first run of it. Also it’s Alpha, transitioning into Beta so things around going to work and not work and be improved or tossed out.

@MidnightSin You’re wilding out when they haven’t even done anything yet. The playerbase is just settling after a huge influx of people who rushed to get characters and then never used them. I don’t know you hopefully, but damn, go do something else if you’ve got this much bottled up already.
ETA: I never clicked on the forum post. But let’s not pretend it doesn’t communicate a good-faith openness to feedback.
-
First, this probably doesn’t belong in Game Gab, because if you are going to come in and call a game a pile of burning trash that’s asking for a different type of conversation.

being informed that there’s some improvements to be made by the way staff talks to people and to those that are trying to give feedback jst dont, dont ask questions just smiel and nod and watch the burning continue.
I don’t know what’s with the weird mixed tenses and subjects here but are you implying someone told you to not ask questions, just smile and nod? Or are you suggesting that? That seems counterintuitive to this whole post where you ask a bunch of questions and make a bunch of insinuations.
In general it sounds like you are mad that someone promised you a game that you don’t feel like you got. I get that, but honestly if you want to suggest improvements this isn’t a great way to start. Proper capitalization however is a good way to start.

YetiBeard’s right. Mind the tone, mind the location. We keep our trash burns in Rough and Rowdy.

I may just be being generous, but it seemed that they were just complaining about the game rather than burning trash. Sure the complaints were almost unintelligible and brusque, but I don’t think they wandered close enough to the line that they’d be Rowdy worthy.

@Pavel O ok, ty. I didn’t catch it live.

I think you can still check the delete post/edit history. But yeah, it was just dumb not Rowdy-levels of offensive.

It was mostly salt, and anything constructive was buried under that. If that’s what we’re going for in this section, by all means~

FWIW I disagree with @Pavel, I thought it was Rough and Rowdy play.

It felt borderline to me. Like I don’t think pointing out that systems that were hyped as the new and different thing a place was doing aren’t in place is outta line, which was some of it. Other parts were a lot of the same nattering about This New Place Isn’t Perfect OMG I kind of tune out at this point and the tone was definitely hostile/snitty, but I’m actually not clear what gets something punted at Rough and Rowdy ATM and what doesn’t (mostly because I fail to read what forum something is in as often as not).
-
If it was calling a place a pile of burning trash, probably that. If it was just discussing systems that weren’t in place, not that.

So I kind of want to ask about the unspoken elephant in the room. There were a lot of people at Alpha launch. Where is everyone and what drove people away? I know a couple things, but by my mental math at least 20 players aren’t accounted for and so I’m like WHAR PPL GO?
-
@dvoraen I’ve been asking myself the same question, things have slowed down quite a bit. I am teetering on the edge of should I go or should I stay, I’ve been around since the game launched and I had really high hopes for it. It’s disappointing to see, for sure.
-
@dvoraen It just wasn’t what I was looking for.
I never quite shook the residual discomfort I had with the use of ChatGPT. It also never quite felt like they were entirely honest about where they used it and to what degree. Everything I ran through an AI detector pinged as more than a light edit.
There were some good people that I had fun with, though, and it felt like they were trying to do their best. I don’t know. It’s a hard world out there. I think there is room to use ChatGPT, so I’m not totally against it. It just never felt super great.
Also, Baldur’s Gate came out, sooooooooooo.
-
I’m still there, but the wind did get taken out of my sails when something was implemented, connections started to form, and then it was redacted. It coincided with a busy time at work that just hasn’t allowed me to regain momentum yet. But I will defend to the end a game runner’s ability to pick up and drop systems they aren’t interested in policing.

I feel like it’s a trend with new Ares games. That the first month to two months it gets great interest and lots of activity, but then it just kinda dies right down. It’s happened on probably the last four or five games I’ve joined. It’s only a small percentage that keep up the numbers and interest.
I wasn’t even going to join Concordia, cause I had too many games already, and were loving them, but then one I’d joined that had been going for a couple months up and closed because the activity completely died. It’s disheartening and also makes me weary of getting attached to any new game.

This isn’t an Ares game trend; it’s an Every MU Ever trend (in my experience). New games open, there’s a big rush, and then it settles down. I think we may just see it happen more visibly nowadays because the technical barrier is a lot lower when we have resources like Ares that make the setup a bit easier for less technical folk.
