So there is another SW MU out there that runs on Ares using FATE? I can’t speak to it other than that it exists. Doesn’t use the funny dice above though.

          There was.
          There is no longer.

@Wizz I think it was an Ares game that fizzled out, but I’m not 100% sure.

‘Fizzled out’ is not how I would put it?
Not that it’s been exactly healthy, either.

The official story is ‘Capricornus and Aries have lost interest in telling Star Wars stories, so everyone is welcome to join them at their new game that they’re super excited about opening! A Dresden Files style game set in Seattle.’

The unofficial story is a lot more complicated, including the fact that //someone else// already started opening a Dresden Files game set in Seattle, on ARES, 2 weeks-ish ago.

I mean. It says a lot when even the official story published by two of the five admin, and seemingly endorsed by a third, paints them so unfavorably.

While the other two admin remain… so very silent.

Anyway, stop making me want to run [Assorted] space game. Instead pick from the list and I will silently cheer from the sidelines and/or offer to halp with +jobwork.

I mean, to be fair, the game ran for a few years. that’s a pretty common lifespan. 🤷‍♂️

I played pretty briefly and it seemed like a good setup, even if I didn’t much like what they wound up doing with the Jedi and Force and all that thematically.

I’m working on it. It’s not a short term process, but it’s being worked on. Stay tuned, true believers!

It’s crazy that I can come back here after almost 6 months and this sub is still going on.

                                  Absolutely wild.

I don’t mush anymore. I can’t bring myself to work or finish the game I started to build. I just don’t have the interest, energy, or time. I have so many other things going on.

But it’s always a hoot to come and check in. Laugh at what a fool Cujo is, complete with a new story and reaffirm he is still a sad fat little man-child playing with his action figures in a sandbox yelling at the other kids when they don’t ‘play with them right’.

                                  Alright, back to reality.

Well, I said I would update this, so here goes:

                                      You were right.

To everyone who told me: “You can’t trust Cujo!” and “The staff are crazy!” and “Bad actors will ruin your experience!” you were right and I admit defeat.

The game was fun for most of a year, where I had crazy adventures and made tons of friends and had a big impact on the game. Cujo was fun and silly and nonserious. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Faction leaders on both sides were great to engage with, with one notable exception.

But everything came crashing down when Ruby did what Ruby/Rey does best and set fire to other people’s fun. Then Cujo lied to my face about it.

                                      The update is as follows:

Many of my friends are gone or weeks idle. Plot progress receded into nothingness. The rebels were allowed a single world in all this time and the Empire got to blow up the Millennium Falcon. The Jedi are unchanged. The Sith are unchanged. The galaxy is unchanged.

And that’s not going to change any time soon, because Ruby/Rey had a bitchfit about Ben Solo having a girlfriend (not me). Sure glad we avoided THAT problem, you hateful harpy. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?

As for Cujo… I’m just hurt more than anything. I was only ever nice to him. Friendly. Encouraging. And he still lied to me.

I’m just really disgusted that she managed to do this to me not once but twice and I wasn’t even involved in the situation she flipped out about. And I’m actually pretty angry that Cujo proved this whole thread to be correct when I was absolutely convinced that it couldn’t be true. How gullible I must have seemed to him.

Anyway, that’s my final report, almost a full year since I tried to redeem this place’s name, unless something radically changes. I may log on now and then just to see if my friends have poked their heads back in. But I’m not holding my breath.

It was fun while it lasted, at least.

@Lemon-Fox You shouldn’t be discouraged for trying to make the best out of a challenging situation. Despite the odds being stacked against you, you had fun with your friends for a good period of time and that’s important. Being revealed the truth will only make it easier for you make that hard decision to leave and dedicate your energy elsewhere. Life is just a series of experiences and this was one of them, sounds like you made newfriends in this hobby which is a huge plus so that is definitely something worth celebrating.

Every single person here who has railed against AoA’s toxicity had the same experience you did. That toxicity doesn’t always make itself immediately known, even if it’s pervasive just beneath the surface. Some persisted for years, trying to wall off the bad in order to be creative with their friends. Some even staffed there. There is a cabal of absolutely shit people at the heart of that game, and that will never change. AoA is their game. It wasn’t yours. It wasn’t ours. It’s a hard-won lesson that still stings for more than a few people who left or were forced to leave when the tipping point was reached. Just remember the good times, the cool people you were able to meet, and the stories that you were able to tell. Those individually unique memories may be the only good thing about AoA, but they do have value.

I wish I was suprised as well, between that one toxic person that seems to have total control over Cujo, Discordia being… erratic and seemingly against any RP that she doesn’t like - a few days ago there was talk on the RP channel about droid repairs and parts, and she had a fit about “Don’t you talk about buying Droid parts on this channel!” even though they were talking about an RP between a droid repiar specialist and someone needing repairs. And that’s without the other issues with some of the other staff.

Seems all too often Discordia’s mantra on dealing with players is shoot, shoot, aim.

Why can’t we have a nice SW MUSH that is run by stable personalities, has a nice large-ish grid (As much as I think AoA’s grid is pretty expansive and nice, it’s a bit too much at times…), isn’t run by people cough Disc cough who are death on anything other than G rated stuff, while making sure that the place isn’t overrun by the Shang crowd.
