Hello, salutations, and welcome to Brand MU* Day. I’m your host, and the one responsible for the travesty of a name. This board is primarily for discussing and debating games based around the MUD/MUSH/MOO frameworks, though conversations on other topics are quite welcome.

To that end, we have four primary sections, each with a specific purpose.
The first is Advertisements. This is the place where, naturally, advertisements on upcoming and current games are posted and stored. This is not, however, a discussion area and should only be used to advertise games. The rationale behind this is so that game advertising can be kept free of lengthy discussion or raucous debate so that the key details of the game itself can be more easily found.

The second is the Game Gab section, wherein much of our polite discussion can be found; including questions and answers about the above-mentioned advertisements, discussion on MU*-centric concepts and ideas, etc.

Thirdly we have the Helping Hands section, for technical and game design discussion. Need to know how to reset your #1 password when you get drunk and change it to something inappropriate that come morning you can’t recall? Here’s where you’ll hopefully find an answer.

Finally, there is the Rough and Rowdy section. This is where our discussion turns slightly more intense, as a high-strung debate is encouraged. This is akin to an underground cage match and is thus the opt-in section of the forum. To join this section, one must: a) register or log in to your account, b) go to the “groups” tab at the top of the screen (the icon with three people on the top panel), c) click on the “Howdy” group, and finally, d) hit the ‘join group’ button.
Membership in the Howdy group is optional, and you can leave at any time.

Any and all questions regarding this information, or anything else, can be directed to the Comments and Feedback Section.

While admin DMs are open for private conversation, complaints, et cetera, we would prefer that discussion regarding policy decisions and other forms of forum feedback should be done publicly.

          Politely, but publicly.

We are currently trialing this as an opt-out rather than opt-in forum after community feedback. There is currently no need to join the Howdy group to use it.

Hi, guys. Popping this old pinned post back on top of recent with a reminder to YOU and to US about the purpose of some of our board sections:

To that end, we have four primary sections, each with a specific purpose.
The first is Advertisements. This is the place where, naturally, advertisements on upcoming and current games are posted and stored. We have not been even remotely enforcing that, but the post that was posted today – and then immediately buried under discussion – was a good reminder of why we set this guideline in the first place.

I will try to be more accountable about this.
