Wasn’t sure where to put this so…

I miss the interactive part of RP, the part where you don’t know what the other characters in the scene are doing and you adapt your own character’s actions around them. So I’m thinking of tipping my toes in again. But…

I work until 9:30 EST most days and my job is too active to RP actively. I’m also not looking to be obsessive.

Is there a place where someone could still be relevant enough to get RP if they only played once or twice a week? My main problem when I’ve tried is things moving too fast. I’d be more interested in playing the support character than the star of plots, but I do still want to be in plots.

@Cobalt A fair number of our players favour the 1-3 times a week playstyle for what it’s worth.

I think most games these days are open to whatever your schedule is. Just explain it in the OOC comms channels before you get super deep into it so that nobody’s setting incorrect expectations for your attendance.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone really expects people to be online and available every single day anymore. I could be wrong, but if that’s the sort of pressure you’re getting from someone, direct them to the immortal words of Taylor Swift:

a woman in a pink fur coat is sitting on a yellow raft in a pool .

@Aria I can see there being that immediacy/need/“obligation” happening with games as they first open especially, but agree, after things get going and chill out~~ we’re all just trying to fucking exist. I say, returning to rp after a flakey stint being burnt out by rl.

Totally, the only expectation I have these days from fellow MUers is that if you sign up for some special event in advance, and do a bunch of RP prior to that in preparation for that, then no showing it (or even worse, jumping into a totally unrelated scene at the same time) is pretty uncool.

There are exceptions of course, but if you don’t have any emergencies or OOC drama on the game, why for aren’t you in the planned scene?
