Baldur's Gate 3

Cursed to put my hands on everything.
-
All’s well that ends… not as badly as it could’ve.
-
@Duke-Whisky Next time she comes to me I’ll take a screenshot.
-
@Duke-Whisky mine is distractingly hot. How do I take screenshots again?
-
In talking about Lae’zel, we’re ignoring the true Worst. Astarion.
Oh how I will enjoy staking this dude immediately in my Dark Urge run.
-
@Solstice HOW DARE
-
Guys, the actual worst is Wyll, on account of being boring. That’s the actual greatest crime an NPC can commit. NPCs being assholes to me? I love it! NPCs being dull? Ugh stay in camp forever.
-
@crawfish - F10 hides the UI. Unless settings been changed on Steam, F12 takes screenshots without needing to do the print screen + paste in MS Paint.
-
@Roz When he’s in the party he has some good lines in banter and of you take him into gobbo territory he’s as violent and vicious as anybody.
-
I really wish you could have more than 3 companions + your PC. I know it would get unwieldy. But man. How am I supposed to choose between my party of Astarion, Shadowheart, and Gale… I want Karlach too!
But Shadowheart is my healer and my PC is the melee. If I swap out Shadowheart for Karlach I lose out on healing. If I swap out Gale I lose out on spells.
And I absolutely wouldn’t ever consider running without Astarion. But also if I did no one would be able to unlock things and disarm traps for me.
But I want Karlach too!

(ETA: This has zero spoilers. Seriously none. It’s a three-second clip of stupid hilarity.)

Rather late in the game, there’s a very well-guarded area in an upstairs location. I aggroed the entire room, looked around, then noped out and headed downstairs again.
They all followed me downstairs, getting opportunity attacked by Lae’zel, Karlach, and my Ranger. With Shadowheart fwapping them with a flail for good measure.
Just a mountain of piled up corpses at the bottom of the stairs.
I love this.

So after having to do a complete campaign wipe and starting from scratch…
I’m still in Act 1. I just wrapped up the goblin camp…
And I think my annoyance at having to redo this entire plotline was showing, because at some point I got it into my head that the characters got in by walking through the front gate so that was how they were walking back out.
An enormous pile of corpses later and I’m now level five before touching the Underdark and have 5,000+ gold from looting pretty much everything that held still long enough for me to stuff it in a sack.
Apparently my Sel-Drow really loves dogs and children and trying to talk her way out of fights, but will straight up just commit war crimes against goblins.
-
My tiefling wants to help people! She really don’t wanna be a murderhobo but… Fuck them goblins and fuck them duergar even more.
But she’s happily friends with creepy mushroom people and random ithilids! -
Baldur’s Gate, “Hey, wanna play?”
Me, “Hells yeah.”
BG, “I need 132 gigs to stretch out, baby.”
Me, clearing space, downloading.
BG, “Let’s go!”
Me, clicking.
BG, “lmao i need another 100 gigs for a patch you stupid motherfucker” -
@Vulgar-Boy It’s a 100 gig patch, but on disk the game’s size is only 136ish gigs.
-
@Pavel Tell that to my Steam deck. Maybe once they apply the patch it totals out to 130g, but the Deck did not want to even try downloading the patch.
I deleted a bunch of Switch roms and put it on my SD card, which ran at around ten thousand degrees during install, but it seems to be good now.

With the disclaimer I don’t have a Steam Deck, my understanding from reading threads on Reddit is basically the hardware should let previous generation games to run well, but there are no promises for triple-A titles tuned for modern machines.
Most likely the next iteration of the platform will run BG3 great but it will struggle with whatever comes out next. A sacrifice of performance on the altar of mobility.

I’m not sure what this is a response to, since I never commented on performance. It runs just fine at medium settings, but I had to adjust a couple of things to prevent memory-leak-related-crashing.

Oohh, that’s positively icy for the Steam Deck. Mine varies in heat between “death valley” and “magma fields” when I’m doing anything.
