GOOD JOB. I always feel bad for Salamander when things break at his bedtime.
-
Wyrdhold’s web portal makes me feel:
-
I have questions regarding the two banned players-- one was compare to a toddler for confusing theme, and the second for ‘making people feel uncomfortable’, which good god what an accusation to cliffhang.
True to its name, I’ve seen nothing but war and strife from ARES.

@Serafine MOVED this from the advertising thread to the Discussion thread!

?? I feel like “trying to fit a square peg into a round hole” is a pretty common colloquialism for adult behavior that isn’t actually calling someone a toddler.
But also, that guy wasn’t just “confusing theme.” He kept trying to insist that theme should be the way he wanted it to be (namely, closer to WoD Changeling lore). Like, I wasn’t privy to the private conversations that went on, but he was IMMEDIATELY a whole lot of insisting on things being like WoD just on public channels.
True to its name, I’ve seen nothing but war and strife from ARES.
I mean, Ares is just a codebase, it doesn’t really have any influence on whether or not there’s drama on a MU*.
-
@Serafine not accurate as a representation of the first ban. The text of the post:
“We have banned Valentin from the game after public and private conversation. We are simply not the game he wants us to be and we do not have the bandwidth to continue to round the square Changeling peg he is trying to fit in an original theme hole.”
No toddler comparison exists.
The dude would not stop complaining publicly about his template and how it would be better if X, where X was straight out of CoD.
I’m not party to the private conversations in question as am not staff and would not want to be, but when the ban post went up I was immediately deeply relieved.
-
@Serafine Re: number two, your questions could probably be answered by extremely uncomfortable poses in logs that are publicly available.
-
@ham If only they were publicly available, because like a good little backstabber I already tried to check.
They aren’t available, and I’m sorry your first was a bit addled. Crazy is crazy.
Best of luck on your new place, it looks very interesting and if I had free time, I would app in a heartbeat.
-
@Serafine Logs are publicly available, their placement on the site just isn’t in a very obvious location.
-
To be more specific, after you click on the main Scenes link on the menu, you have to click the ‘Scene Logs’ button in the top right of the next page, that’ll take you to the page of completed logs.

I think their custom portal has a bug actually, because the “Recent” view on scene logs was initially blank for me. Once I switched it to “all” and back to “recent” it behaved itself. That might lead one to honestly believe there were no public logs.
But it’s oh-so-pretty. Seriously. Kudos for the aesthetics.

Whatever do you mean? I’m quite certain it’s the first and only MU codebase to ever see drama. I designed it special that way.
-
@helvetica Oh, well, then.

this is the most epic long con i’ve ever even considered existing
-
Random aside: I think @Faraday put just the right amount of their opinion in how Ares is made. You can really go too loose with platform software and they nailed it. Ludonarrative properties, etc. Kudos.

For the peanut gallery this pose here might have something to do with the ban:
He turns his attention to Female Character, “It ain’t the size of the cookie. It’s whether or not you can get the whole thing in your mouth.” He kicks the side of Male Character shoe with the toe of his own, sort of signaling a ‘get it?’ But when he looks Male Character’s way, the guy has a mouth filled with cupcake. “Yikes. Okay. So, clearly, you can fit anything through those choppers.” He smiles, making a click sound with his mouth as he winks at the guy teasingly.Spoilered cause its mildly gross, or maybe I’m being over sensitive but I’m done snooping logs of this guy. Cause, ew.
-
@Cobalt oh that isn’t even the gross pose that i thought it was. it was a completely different gross pose that i thought it was. Lol.

I was the Male Character in that snippet and wasn’t really bothered by that one tbh, BUT it was the kind of joke that my PC would absolutely find funny, so YMMV.
But this one in another scene seems at a glance to come out of nowhere literally two rounds in:
“Here, lemme help you,” [He] responds, and if she allows it, he takes the popcorn bucket from her. “You know, when I can’t sleep, I grab some lube and just fucking go at myself.” He makes a gross ‘pop pop pop’ sound that is apparently what it sounds like when a man ejaculates or something? He smiles at himself for giving her the greatest advice ever. “Fall right asleep.” Whether he is holding the bucket or she is at this point, he gnabs a handful and shoves it in his mouth. “What’re we seein’?”Just kind of from 0 to 20? Idk. I think it was a number of different things/reports. Individually they probably could just be like “that’s a bit much.”
-
So your response made me go make a handle, but now I need the brain space to read all the things.
-
I do think it’s pretty unfair to blame Ares for drama. If anything, Ares will take a lot of drama because so many new games are launching on Ares!
If anyone launched new games on Mux anymore, Mux would be the drama center, as it surely was in the Mux-based WoD game heyday.
