This season is popping the hell off.
- My Hero Academia Season 6
- Spy x Family Cour 2
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury
- Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
- Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners
- Chainsaw Man
- To Your Eternity Season 2
- Akiba Maid Wars
- A remake of Urusei Yatsura, fucking what where did this come from, this is so 80s and stupid in the ways only an 80s Rumiko Takahashi manga could be.
How the hell am I supposed to get anything done?

So it isn’t technically anime (it does have some clever references to some of the greats if that counts!), but I thought I’d add it here because it flew completely under my radar until a random Facebook ad and it would be an absolute shame if anyone else missed Pantheon on AMC.
Animated series about the concept of uploaded human minds gone very, very wrong in the same vein as this deeply fucking unsettling fictional wiki article and adapted from author Ken Liu’s short stories.
I don’t wanna say too much about it because it’s a treat. Go watch it if you haven’t!!

Ugh, I hate/love it more every time I read it!! They definitely hit that sweet spot of “dry text, horrifying implications” where your imagination can’t help but make it so much worse, and it just seems so goddamn plausible that it makes me actually angry, lol.
-
-
Oh that is brilliant and horrible and it is absolutely going to become one of our species’ next big Eternal Torment Nexuses.
-
well now i’m sad, thanks

Trigun Stampede. The first ep is out! I loved it with tons of changes, but looking forward to seeing where it goes! Trying not to get too into the weeds with spoilers, given the first ep just dropped!

This season, My Hero Academia, Trigun Stampede and Vinland Saga Season 2 absolutely blew me away, albeit for different reasons.
My Hero Academia is known for having strong early seasons and then lagging hard with its pacing in subsequent seasons. When it’s good, it’s good. When it’s dragging, it sure does drag. But this season has been absolutely full-tilt with great pacing, some fun fights, and actual character development. (And a bunny and a sniper absolutely wrecking.)
Studio Orange is once again showing what fully 3D anime is capable of, with Trigun Stampede, and the deviations from the story that initially bothered me have turned into something I can’t wait to see every week.
Vinland Saga’s second season sees the gritty viking revenge story turned entirely on its head, and features some of the best character growth I’ve seen in a long time - and it does so near-bloodlessly, compared to the wartorn first season.
Much enjoyment, all around.

Spring Preview!
https://anichart.net/Spring-2023
Lots of promising sequels:
- Demon Slayer’s back.
- Dr. Stone’s back.
- Gundam: Witch From Mercury’s back.
- Ranking of Kings is back.
- Konosuba is back with a prequel.
- Tonikwawa: Over the Moon For You is back.
- Birdie Wing is back (I will fight you.)
- The Ancient Magus’ Bride is back.
Another World With My Smartphone is ba–hhahahahawhy.
And there’s some promising new contenders.
- Hell’s Paradise is looking pretty cool.
- Oshi no Ko looks pretty disturbing. Getting Perfect Blue vibes from the trailers.
- Insomniacs After School looks like a nice, quiet, moody romance with night-time vibes and I’m here for it.
- Skip and Loafer looks like a wholesome good time from PA Works, even if it’s treading over familiar romcom tropes.
Year 2000 me would have never dreamed there’d be such a consistent glut of good shows every season, and yet here we are. I can’t keep up with all anymore, and that’s a wonderful problem to have.
-
I’m having conflicting emotions about Trigun Stampede. The original has a very special place in my heart and while I haven’t watched the new yet, mostly because i don’t want to hold it to the nostalgia of the original.

-
Yes. They’re adorable.
-
It’s definitely doing its own thing. Right there with you, and I was initially resentful of it for deviating. Then it kinda just became interesting in its own right, and I just let go and let it do its thing, and was far happier for it.
-
@Testament I own the manga and all of the anime on DVD upgraded my VHS copies, I love the old anime and the old show. But, this is it’s own thing and I can’t wait for the next ep each week!
-
I’ve been enjoying the dub of The Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague, a slice-of-life romantic comedy which is cute and inoffensive but is mostly great because it sounds like they sourced their voice actors from a list of people fired from NPR for being too low energy, then gave them a bunch of valium before shoving them into the studio.
-
The spouse and I are binging Attack on Titan. I stg if Eren doesn’t grow up and stop being so whiny I am going to throw him out of a window!
-
He certainly whines less as the show goes on, but his tantrums remain.
If you’re digging AoT, y’all might enjoy Vinland Saga. Hits some of the same vibes, except with fewer large naked giants.
-
Can we talk about how it is actively offensive it is that the first season of Spy x Family is over and I’m not getting new episodes of it because it feels very personally targeted to ruin my life
For anyone who loved Spy x Family, I’d suggest Buddy Daddies as a natural followup. The kid isn’t as stupidly cute as Anya, but the story is fun and I might like the adult characters more than Loid and Yor.
