I don’t know if it helps, but my general opinion of those kinds of firstimpressions is that the person writing them is just XP poaching. And they’re up there with the RS hunters.
I used to straight-up report people I felt were using particularly the RS system to XP poach. Sometimes I felt like a vigilante.

You’re my favorite vigilante.

I’ve said it before, but declining to validate RS claims for undeserving scenes brings me joy. I also won’t give firstimpressions until I actually… have one. So I often don’t return those, either.

Absolutely. It’s especially frustrating when you come across a RS or a FI from someone who you didn’t even interact with. The good example of this is when you’re in a large scene with a lot of people and you’re just randomly getting RS’s from people that, yes, were in the same room as you, but you didn’t talk towards or have any kind of action towards.
I understand that it’s just extra RP for folks, and maybe I’m just being old and shaking my cane at things, but it means so much more when you get one from one person that talks about how that interaction went, and not just “met x at y and did z. good person”.
-
@Testament You still get the xp even if you don’t validate the claim! Profit without rewarding bad behavior.
-
Whenever I get firstimpressions for running an event so like… someone is talking about some eulogy I gave, I don’t do a firstimpression because I think my legit firstimpression as Aureth would be “Who?”

Yeah I’ve sometimes gotten FI’s when Aleksei does a duel or whatnot, and I think they’re legit! You get a first impression of someone who’s performing a thing for you. I just can’t respond to them yet because my PC hasn’t met theirs.

One of my memorable FIs said my PC should smile more, and then the person reached out a day or two later to apologize saying they were asking for it to be removed, and then a month or two later they were banned for toxic and manipulative behavior.

A dude once put gross stuff abt a couple of female inquisitors and their sexuality in FIs of female inquisitors that were interrogating him IC about a thing. Staff removed it promptly upon +request and he apologized OOC for going too far, but it left such a sour taste in my brain that I still remember it enough that I don’t want to rp with the player. That gross-ass sexist shit was still the first place dude went, yknow?
-
@sao First of all, gross.
Second, I think a lot of people use FIs to kinda test the waters of possible romance, or give a hint (sometimes more than a hint) that they’d be interested.
-
@farfalla I use them quite literally and if I don’t have an actual first impression I won’t leave one.
