Using LLMs to RP is, bare minimum, insulting as fuck. It is also pathetic, not that’s like a personal opinion and not like a cultural one. Literally the major difference between something like a MU* and other single player role-playing games is the interaction between people and the collaborative element to storytelling. Subverting that in any way goes beyond missing the point–it’s absurd to even want to.

Like what the fuck are you (you being the hypothetical LLMRP strawman I have made up in my head) doing? Why would I want to create anything with you while you’re playing a choose-your-own text adventure? If I want to RP with an LLM I literally do not need a person on the other end. If what you’re doing is something I could actually do without you to functionality the same degree of satisfaction why the fuck is it even happening?

That’s not even considering the larger conversation about LLMs and ethics or whatever.

I am the unicorn: I hate writing both descs AND finding PBs, but I can bust out the rest of a character sheet pretty competently in like an hour.

Yeah, there were lots of options (and some really great ones!) that could totally make up for a lot of things Disquiet and Wasteland do, but I’m mostly thinking about how Wasteland eventually changes their surroundings to try and kill them and how that would effect a static grid.

There would be ways to do it as long as you heavily focused on that as an element of the game as a whole–and some of those ways are probably really interesting–but I’m not sure how much fun it would be in an open game like City of Glass or similar.

That’s wild. I have no idea how you’d do Mummies OR Promethean’s without heavily houseruling them for a MU* context given how nomadic they are by necessity. Prommies especially, since reality hates them and tries to kill them if they hang out somewhere too long.
