@Pavel it really is the best concept album in existence
-
I’m going to a Deftones/Gojira concert tomorrow night. So that should probably give an indication as to what I’ve been listening to. To note, I bought these tickets two year ago as the concert was supposed to of been also two years ago. I’m just glad they’re still being honored.
-
@Testament YES! They are both amazing live! I saw them forever ago it feels in the before times.
-
Last concert I saw in the before times was Gogol Bordello. Also the best concert I’ve ever experienced.
Gogol Bordello forever
-
@hellfrog OMFG! I saw them and it blow my mother fucking mind! He was riding on a drum screaming! One of the best fucking shows of my whole life.
-
@Pavel This is so good. Had it on the background most of the day about halfway. Need to find some free time to truly sit down and do it with just headphones. Thank you for the suggestion.
-
@hellfrog Gogol Bordello has an AMAZING live show! The energy is a whole vibe.
-
Okay, I’ve got another music offering that’s totally different because I contain multitudes.
Do you want an excuse to feel fucking moved? Like… no joke, tears are practically guaranteed to happen.
-
@Pavel Also amazing! Thank you!

Rammstein have a new album out, titled Zeit.
For anyone who doesn’t know, they’re German industrial metal, and they have a well-deserved reputation for shock tactics and artistically-done videos that leave people uncomfortable and thinking. They stood on a stage in a packed stadium in Moscow and two of the guys kissed, and one of them went crowd surfing in a rubber dinghy in Poland with a pride flag. Brave and brilliant, it’s a winning combination.
The singles (none of which are really going to be SFW, they’re German and they like to shock): Zick Zack is both hilarious and very much a statement, I just about wet myself laughing the first time I saw it but it still left me thinking. Angst is classic Rammstein, a hell of a lot packed into one small track. Zeit is also classic Rammstein and but very much less SFW than the other two, which is saying something. The last one is cued up to watch - I haven’t had the chance to see it yet, but the title is entertaining for English speakers.
Off to see them live next month. Can’t wait.

@Evilgrayson I would post a gif here to give an example of what you mean, but I forgot how spoiler tags work.
-
@Testament Spoiler tags aren’t included by default in NodeBB as far as I can tell. If people feel a need for them you can throw a thread up on the feedback category tho.
-
@Tez Well, I just assumed that nobody needed to see Till Lindermann operating a giant mechanical dong spewing the white soap bubbles.
Hence spoiler tags.
-
@Testament BUT IT’S CLASSIC!
-
@Evilgrayson New album is solid only listen to it 5 times. Have not devoted myself to it yet.
-
All mentions of cliques remind me of this song I can’t stop listening to. Clique.
-
My new album addiction was turned into a film. It is about racial issues. So that this is a warning, but it is so good!
-
I’m going to blame this on Stranger Things, but I started listening to Metallica again for the first time in…decades? I can recall being a freshmen in high school and hearing the Load album over and over again. And while a lot of people think Load and Reload were low points for the band, I think the album has oddly aged really well.
Or this is really extreme nostalgia working on me. But King Nothing and Outlaw Torn are still bangers.
-
Similarly, I’m going to blame Stranger Things for making me wander around the house singing “Running Up That Hill” and driving my partner crazy. The Totem remix from the finale fucking slapped.

I (suspect I) got Covid at Primus, but between the need to get out to the city for a visit with my still-grieving-but-definitely-better daughter that didn’t center on tragedy or emergency fixes of shit that needed fixing before it broke and really wanting to see Primus not-at-an-Ozzfest, I mean… worth it. Les Claypool had a huge influence on my during my first pass through college, when my majors were music performance and recording.
Clips from the actual show here.
The opening group was some dark, trancy, old school gothy shit called Black Angel and I really wish I’d been able to make it through the gauntlet that was GSR to find their merch, assuming they had any. I LOVED them and I hope I get a chance to see more from them sometime soon. Here’s a link to a page with some of their stuff.
