Thank you BMD mods for making it easier to rubberneck and preserve this trashfire…I mean stay informed.

NGL the thing I’m trying to wrap my head around is this pile of refuse passing as a game not having a WORA/MSB thread prior to this.

RE: Topic Deletion Query and Feedback
I voted no due to the potential for abuse by bad actors but get why the Magicians guy deleted his post and think the kind of reception is worth reflecting upon.

I wish people didn’t always turn this into “if you’re not in action/plot its because you just prefer social things” that is honest far from the truth a lot of the time.
I was once told - by someone in control of plot stuff - that because I was a ‘social RPer’ and in a decent number of scenes (many of which I asked for) that I didn’t need plot involvement. It was a hell of a thing and like five years later I’m still mad about it.

RE: Why is Pack closing?
@Cobalt
Whatever worked or didn’t work about The Pack, I really hope the experience wasn’t too discouraging for you. Like I said lots of posts back, it DID seem like a game a lot of players responded to in positive ways, and I am really impressed with how you responded to an atmosphere that you didn’t feel good about being the gamerunner of anymore, because that was obviously really hard and Unfun to deal with this directly. I think it’s always constructive to reflect on why something didn’t work, or didn’t work for you personally, or get across what you wanted to get across, but I hope that doesn’t mean it was as wholly negative experience because you are a gamerunner lots of people like and respect and it’d be awesome to see another project from you in the MUSH space when you were excited to do it. -
RE: A Constructive Arx Thread
I thought about going back but end of the day I came to the same conclusion I did a while ago: I left my most active period on Arx on a really good note and that’s the experience I want as my strongest memory of the game. It’s cool to see a chapter of it get a conclusion, though, a lot of MUs don’t, and I’ll be interested to see how it ties it up.

I’m still pretty shocked Derp made up a multiparagraph theory wholecloth and tried so hard to sell it. Why? What was the benefit of that kind of speculation? I realize I’m speculating here, myself, but he’s more than welcome to come here and provide the answers.
That was the first moment I was sorry I was banned (apart from every time I try to find something on that mess of a board because the bad search is even worse if you aren’t logged in) because I would’ve enjoyed enthusiastically and repeatedly reporting Derp’s own post for violating his ‘you need to bring receipts’ and ‘no personal attacks’ rules.

RE: Weirdest Things You've Researched for MU*s
@Rathenhope
Spirit Lake was non-stop Googling small town infrastructure and businesses in Grand Lake, CO. I sometimes wonder if any tech people in that little town were ever like ‘Where the hell are these website hits coming from and why do they care about the high school marching band?’ -
RE: Bannings
Now the community seems fractured. Hopefully it is a problem that will fix itself.
I do think it’ll sort itself out in time. We’ve all been through lots of cycles on these many MU boards and for better or worse this doesn’t feel too different to me than the way the other ones came to be over the years. Not that it doesn’t bum me out, it’s a very niche hobby and having users scattered sucks just in terms of ease of use if nothing else, and the I feel for folks who’ve had actual strained or damaged personal relationships. It has been cool to see old names pop up here, though, you among them.
I’m not personally looking for any rhyme or reason to the bannings that went down in that thread, I doubt I’d find any answers I got non-aggravating anyway even if the MSB mods want to give them someday, so. So it goes.

Upvote for solidarity. The muses are fickle. Love playing with you but sometimes you need a hard refresh before you can find them again. -

Feeling like … I can only scene with you as long as I am very polite and mindful and watch my step and am on my best behaviour.
This is death to me and any kind of interesting RP interaction. Also just…human interaction. Because when this happens it doesn’t feel like these people want courtesy or basic consideration, it feels like they want me to prioritize them at all times and edit my behavior to some moving goalpost that’ll please them and…no.

Man, MacNeil/Lehrer were my news heroes when I was coming up as a little journalism student (I was that kind of kid lol). The show is still the best nightly news cast you can watch, I think. Hell of a legacy. -

@Meg It’s on MSB, and I think it’s in the Hog Pit, which means some of us can’t get to
Truly the most tragic part of my banning, not being able to link that guy who flipped out about ovulation on that isekai game.

@Roz said in MU Peeves Thread:
no one tell the ovulation guy about the game
When I turned 42 this year he was the first person I thought of, for better or worse.
Here to say, I’ve been around people having ovulation all my life and it’s nice to reach the age where I can definitively say it’s not a big deal.

Bummer, this would’ve been an April Fool’s Day gotcha I would’ve found kinda actually funny, which is a rarity.
-
RE: MU Peeves Thread
On the one hand, wondering if it’s an April 1 gag.
On the other hand, really hoping it’s an April 1 gag.
The amount of time I spent searching various public game wikis for pregnancy fruit this morning is…non-zero.

RE: MU Peeves Thread
@L-B-Heuschkel said in MU Peeves Thread:
Async is my staple and I don’t mind Glacial (those that take more than a week) either – but it’s important to be clear about what a scene is before firing it up.
Up to a point this is fine. I assure you, I do this with people I have not played with before who want async. I’m someone who does not have an issue nudging people OOC or taking a certain amount of narrative direction to fade. In part this is why I’ve done well with Ares, up to a point.
But it really feels like something happened over the course of the last two years in which async became a lot more pronounced, more tilted toward glacial, and a lot more the default assumption to heavily Ares players and this year I have been really wondering where it came from. Is the Ares population growing more unique/separate from games that don’t use the scene system and this is just what has happened with the culture of it? Are people from forums and Discord gravitating to it and bringing their habits? I do not know. I feel like I stepped out of something of an RP bubble that I’d been in for three years, then essentially took a break for a year, then stepped back into Ares RP and it really does feel like the vibe around async has changed.
