Discussion: On Dragon Wings

no, I was just high and only half-reading, replying to a post from 12 years ago

@hellfrog Iโm glad it was just a misunderstanding. And for clarification, we are fighting the dragons.

-
@helvetica I always thought a theme with some dragon on dragon fighting would be interesting in Pern.
I had a whole game concept based around that once, but since I lack follow through-- Itโs cool to see someone else doing it too.

Was that the matrilineal thing? I remember that concept and still think it would be really cool.
-
@helvetica Yeah, I threw in matrilineal things. Because it never made sense to me that basically Gold dragons are this pretty important part of dragon society, where everyone traces the lineage of dragons through golds, but then like, Holders inherit through male lines and stuff?
Idk, it was a while ago. But also my big bad was a golddragon rider who basically took over most of society and subjugated the holders, so.

-
@Meg I would play that so hard.
-
@aestivus if only I had follow through!
Sorry did not mean to derail this. I think what you guys are doing is great. I may actually try to play, because dragon fighting
maybe it will encourage me to do my school work while RPing instead of playing video games. I can pretend I am a teen again, back in college (because I am back in college classes).Roleplay on roleplay.

i grabbed tโmas off the roster. he looked fun. anyone who wants to play adjacent to me, hmu. (as a child?? or a wingrider?)

One of his kids IS on the roster.

Our latest plot has wrapped up! The wingleader of the rogue dragonriders was killed in battle.

The ambitious goldrider behind it all has been defeated and imprisoned while her dragon waits to lay her eggs. The Weyrs are still navigating the sustainability and resource-sink of this arrangement, as well as how exactly they want to hold her and her supporters accountable. (There already arenโt enough dragons, and the rest of the world does need them to survive.)
The next leg of our rogue dragonrider plot begins to kick off in August, and the next hatchings are slated for early July and mid-August. For anybody on the fence, itโs a good low pressure time to ease into the theme.
