Honestly, I have not spent the intervening time stressing about it or plotting heinous acts of revenge,
lol oh thank god, what a relief.

TBH me finding out at all was a total fluke of someone mentioning it in my presence and I was like what?
And yeah, youāre totally okay using this forum for its purposes. I can completely understand logging onto places and feeling like the other players donāt really notice that Iām there or Iām just existing around the outskirts. I think it happens to pretty much everyone at some point, and it almost always sucks.
If you see me out in the wild sometime, drop me a page! Maybe we can get a scene in!

Enemies to besties, 40,000 words, slow burnā¦
ETA: After seeing the date of the original post is 2023⦠very slow burn.

@tsar This whole entire development has just been encouraging. I think it says a lot that you were willing to acknowledge Pachaās emotions and experience even though you were unaware of it happening and also that it wasnāt the motivation of your actions.
It also says a lot about @Pacha for being able to acknowledge your position in the situation. While also not allowing these interactions to create a negative viewpoint.
So kudos to both of you!
At the end of the day weāre all human with our own lives and struggles. We donāt know how our actions (or the actions of those associated with us too) can be interpreted by others. We also canāt know the motive of others actions who we interact with. MUSH is behind a screen and most times we donāt know the person on the other side.
We may become friends over time and we may meet some of these people, but for the most part we remain strangers who share a love of escaping our reality through adventure. Yet, somehow our interactions with these people can still impact us and others in ways we canāt anticipate.
Iāve viewed others as being part of a ācliqueā before. Either shutting out people or monopolizing rp and I admit Iāve let myself either be offended or get self conscious about it. Likewise, Iāve found out down the road that I have been viewed as part of a clique, monopolizing rp, or having some sort of fan following.
I know on my end none of that was my intention. Which made me realize. If I know it wasnāt my intention isnāt it possible that Iām misreading others actions the same mine were misread? Iāve given a lot more grace to myself and others as a result and overall itās made rp a lot more fun. Itās also ironically helped me create healthier boundaries as well.
Sorry for the long ramble, but this took me down an encouraging thought trail and yeah tl;dr basically:

-
Effort is required to make any hobby fun. Art, music, dog training, knitting, being good at Call of Duty, gardeningā¦
And building a MUSH
And being a player on a MUSHYou get out of it what you put into it. Effort.
-
@Ashkuri I definitely agree, and Iād like to expand upon your thought without overriding or ācorrectingā you.
I want to add that while it takes work to make any hobby fun, if itās consistently more work than fun, then it might be time to reassess. Obviously, there are going to be instances where youāre doing a lot of work, particularly in the setup phase, but you should eventually get more fun out of it than a feeling of work.

Agreed. The moment it becomes more work than fun is the moment itās an unpaid internship, and those are largely gross.

@Yam If we all had a dollar for every time this happened, weād all be oligarchs.

Self peeve: Find fun game I enjoy. Immediately hit with fatigue that makes thinking hard.
-
Once we all had anxiety, or we had emotional/mental fatigue from being the person who did the who-where-aboutwhat? scene-organising labour too often.
Now we can top those legit reasons off with the fact that some get away with treating asking for RP as a violation of boundaries and a bannable offense. So yeah, whoās asking these days?
-
@Gashlycrumb This sounds like you have stories about people getting banned for asking for RP.
-
@Gashlycrumb yeah Iāve never really seen that happen as stated! Whatās up?
-
@hellfrog I am pretty sure the statement is that theyāre harrassing people. I think itās upthread, about me doing this. The other person I know who was banned seemingly for asking for RP wasnāt told why, just got blocked off the game shortly after asking for RP. Old news now, But anyway, the āwhat if I get in trouble for bothering people?ā fear is legit. Kinda like the āhow often is too often to +request or poke about a request?ā anxieties.
