Atharia and its Changes

So, after feed back from my player base. Their thoughts were well thought out and helpful to what they think of Atharia. Over all they seem to enjoy how I GM and most of Atharia’s theme stuff. Courtesans being the social mavens, ‘titled positions (Knight - combat, Sage - intellect, and Baronet - social)’ for commoners to aspire to earn. The ability to take over positions held by PCs (with discussion and RP with players involved) and NPCs alike. The players themselves being able to find the ‘undiscovered Gods’ and being ‘Children of Gods’ with herculean tasks to become a God themselves. Basically, they seem to like how I strive to make all types of characters feel important to the over all story of the game. I also make it very clear that no ‘enemy’ on Atharia needs to stay that way.
However, there were some major theme things they didn’t like. 1 being the time loop, 2 being not having a ‘tangible’ enemy. So, I am currently working on editing out time loop stuff from the theme and adding a ‘real’ enemies to the game. One is a council of religious fanatics that want to rule the world in a way /they/ think the Gods want them too. Another is more geared towards each kingdom.
This ‘kingdom enemy’ is another kingdom each of the 4 main kingdoms need to ‘win’ over or go to war with or whatever other solution players can think of. So, each of the 4 PC kingdoms would have an NPC kingdom that they need to ‘solve’ in one way or another. While all players of all the PC kingdoms can be involved in the ‘solving’ of the NPC kingdoms the ones the ‘enemy’ kingdom is ‘set up for’ would be in charge of ‘winning’ the kingdom over. I hope that makes sense.
I am still working on updating the theme info to reflect some of these changes. The ‘enemy kingdoms’ are not yet worked into theme anywhere, beyond hints dropped of them being there, due to them having not being revealed yet.
I wouldn’t mind thoughts from people on what other info would be useful to have and how theme stuff sounds. Some of ‘The Story’ is not quite completed, just 1 section (A World Reborn), because I am not 100% on if I like that the people split into 4 kingdoms because they couldn’t decide who should be the next Emperor and made big fight about it.

I am still working on the magic coming into play part. So, don’t be surprised it is still a work in progress.
Anyone can feel free to connect/join Atharia if they are interested. I’m still doing plot things even if a bit slowly.
So, most of the game files have been updated to reflect the theme changes. I just haven’t dipped into the families, outside the royal houses. Since the majority of what they have is in the game history/the same as the kingdom stories.
Im also likely going to ask the players that are part of the families on if they have anything they would like to see as a family hook/family story.
The final thing is, we’re thinking of switching to Evennia’s Arxcode. We have a test server set up for it but I’m not good at meddling the code for it. Over all, changes don’t /need/ to be made but we likely will. I’m just attempting changes and have already broke things. We tried switching to Ares but my host said he could get stuff to talk proper.
If anyone that knows Evennia/Arx stuff wants to chat hit me up. OR Ares stuff and could perhaps indicate possible reasons for lack of working.

It’s impossible to say without knowing details about what the problem was, but I’m happy to help if you can provide more info. Here, PM, or on the Ares forum or discord, whatever. I will note that you said “my host” - most standard MUSH hosting services cannot run Ares. It’s easily set up via a 1-click droplet on Digital Ocean hosting though.
@Faraday I don’t know mu h beyond that. My host is a friend of mine. Not sure all that he uses. He said something about not communicating. When I get home I can find the discord messages.

@icanbeyourmuse OK. Though since you have your own separate wiki already, and it sounds like some custom chargen needs for your fantasy magic system (I just skimmed the theme files), Evennia might be a better choice anyway.
@Faraday we are using a tweaked fs3. I dunno how far we will get with Evennia since I dunno how to change stuff. I am pretty sure I have broken stuff already.

@icanbeyourmuse It all comes down to what you need for your game. Not all platforms are created equal. There are some things Evennia excels at, some things Ares excels at, and some things where the established platforms like Rhost/Tiny/Penn are best. For some guidance, you can check out this article about choosing the right MU server. And there’s another article about whether FS3 is right for your game.
