Welp, I’m hooked.

RE: RP Safari - Pacing Styles
I think I’ve always been a slower-ish poser. Whether because I used to smoke and would take quick breaks or because I was just typing so much - I donno. So even now, my live rp tends to be 7-10 minutes to pose.
Recently I’ve abandoned clients for the Ares portal and with that shift, have also become more of an async rp’er. I work a LOT and having a scene that I know can run a few days to fit my schedule is just awesome. No stress, no rush - I’m digging it. It’s rare that I have more than one scene going on though.
I still do live scenes on the weekends here and there, but async is kinda my new jam.

If I recall correctly, I got into MUSHing in the mid to late 90s and my first game was SW1. This kicked off because I had finished reading the Heir to the Empire Trilogy (Thrawn trilogy) and I started reading more post movies Star Wars novels.
Oh man. I really enjoyed those books.

RE: Your first game?
When I was in college in the mid 90s, I took an Argument and Persuasion class where we had to post opinion papers on the in-school bbs. It was all NEW and supposed to help eliminate bias (though we eventually figured out who was who). Someone at my school had created a Pern MU called Invocation as part of their senior project and sent invites to basically anyone using the bbs.
Not only was it a Pern MU, though, it also had a virtual dorm - I honestly forget if we even really used those. So anyhow, I joined, and there were a bunch of us in a computer lab one night impressing dragons. The head of the IT department pulled the game once she graduated and replaced it with a Pern MOO, which I didn’t join. I ended up on NC for a handful of years and then on to other games. Invocation was a public game for a little while a year or so later, but I got into NC and eventually stopped playing there.

RE: Discussion: On Dragon Wings
I keep looking at Jeski every couple of weeks. I’ve forgotten more than I remember about Pern, I’m sure, and am more async than not buuuut… I will have to look again!

RE: Minigames in MUSHes
Crafting mini games probably kept me in games longer tbh. If I wasn’t feeling like rp or things were slow, I could make stuff! I loved doing ascii but writing the descriptions to go along with them was the real draw. I did weapons on Firan (and armor and jewelry) and also on Arx. I don’t think I delved much outside of crafting mini games but they were a definite +++ for me.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Finally finished Veilguard and man. MAN. I super enjoyed it.
Once the credits were rolling, I was thinking how I can’t imagine doing the game again. There were so many games that I played through a handful of times - both KOTORs, Dragon Age I & II. I mean like fired up DAII last year while waiting for new games to come out.
Lately, I can’t bring myself to do the newer games a second time though. Loooved Greedfall, but wouldn’t play it again. Maybe they’re too big? Or maybe I got all I needed out of it? I don’t know. Just a random thought post-game.

I love rosters but I prefer to write my own characters.
And everyone else’s characters, apparently. Because I have a problem.
I LOOOVE the characters you create
The depth and nuances - just beyond. That said, I’ve pretty much been roster-only for many years. I hate making characters for myself and find it super interesting to take up a character/role to play on a game. It makes it easier for me to find direction and such.

RE: why is nobody talking about Veilguard
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING and wondered if maybe no one was really into DA anymore or something.
I actually started Greedfall II a couple of weeks ago just to dink around until Veilguard came out. I’m putting that on the back shelf because I’m not a fan of early access, turns out.
I didn’t finish Inquisition because it just started feeling soooo sloggy to me. I loved Dragon Age 2, but yeah. Inquisition was too big for me. ANYHOW
I’m digging it. I’m not that far in but man - it’s so pretty and I like the story thus far.

RE: MU Peeves Thread
Random and all, but man. I miss crafting stuff. Crafting for like actual players. Ironically, maybe, I absolutely abhor crafting in video games.

I have one folder with all the notepad files of crafts I did, starting with the great weapons in late May 2016 and ending with a sword for Jasper three days before the game ended:

(Edited because Jasper not Jasher, though there was an axe for the latter in 2019 apparently)

This is toeing into the territory of the… spreadsheets in our pretendy fun times discourse. Reasonable steps to remain organized and keep a sustainable pace? Yes. Turning it into something that might be done from a cubicle? Pass.

RE: A Constructive Arx Thread
The Stand at Farhaven was everything and more than I could have hoped for. Reading channels cheering us all on and investing with us on this event. An amazing group of players who threw absolutely all in, and to whom I am super grateful not just for this, but for staying on this crazy northlands road during lots of ebbs and waves. Add in @Apos’s incredible storytelling while somehow GM’g all of us and whatever we were doing…man.
Magnificent

RE: Pets!

Tippy, the gremlin princess as my kids have come to call her, salty at me while at the vet. She bit a nurse. Otherwise, she has softened a lot since moving to FL and LOVES sitting in the window watching birds on the lake. But this face

RE: Pets!
I actually just got two of those Feliway plug-ins to try to help but wasn’t sure about them - some of the reviews weren’t great. This makes me feel like it was a good purchase. Thank you!
