@Ashkuri oh, I could have. I suppose morbid curiosity kept me logging on.
What I mean to say, I kinda wish I had that strength, rather than some Nostalgia having kept me coming back.

@Third-Eye As a circle-backer, I can say I was mostly just feeling a creative pull to return to Star Wars and I genuinely do enjoy the coded systems / GM tools they have for storytellers on that game. Though it’s pretty clumsily-implemented, I actually think the space flight / cargo system COULD be really cool to help drive plots. You get to fly around to a bunch of diverse settings, after all.
I can’t say I disagree. For all of AoA’s numerous faults, the large amount of automation made GMing easier than any other place I went to. It was easy to jump with an idea without having to consult page 305 about dodging mechanics.
Though I’ll say the playerbase now has definitely gotten quite small. You can still sort of fly around and if you can find some of the active folks who are fun writers (there are some!) I bet you could get some good small-scale, crew-based stories going.
Quite small is a way to put it. Atrophied. Sure, some folks might be active, but the good writers mostly left. Some remained, sure, but most of it is gone. Hex is gone, and he was amazing. Kasia is gone, Adhar is gone. Rheisa, who made Togruta, is gone. Most of the strange elements seem to have departed with their writers.
And as an aside, I think last time the Sith Leaders were on last year. Not sure. My passwords got changed forcibly yesterday.
Ah. And Ship Repair stations linked to an FC now get a discount. Not related to you, but AoA staff wants to make FCs more interesting. Sl, Parmac gets a discount due to Qi’Ra, the Rebellion due to Ray…
@SpilledBeanz True. It came relatively out of nowhere, since I didn’t comment for months, but it is a reason, I suppose. And it is indeed sad.
They seemed proud to get players after their reroll and now… they killed the game again, probably hoping to be able to seamlessly reroll once more. As they did when Episode 7 came out.
Why do I log on there to check stuff anyways. Every login I lose stuff. Lost gear due to their announcement, fuck it. I log in to check the grid and BBPosts. Well, I can read BBPosts but am in the old guard lounge, since they decided I am too inactive to be allowed to keep my old characters, apparently.
I don’t know. I shouldn’t care, but being moved there kind of felt like a punch to the gut. I don’t do anything there. I won’t do anything there anymore because I have no reason to frankly return there anymore. I had a great time but I feel unwanted there. I mean, I know Cujo made his decision last year and I had nothing to return to, but it feels sobering. It feels sad, somehow.
I’ll miss AoA.

@Krautistanian Very likely, though I very much doubt you’re the only burned-out, bored player hunting for RP that doesn’t require you to become a blaster sponge in Sith- and Kora-run scenes, no matter who is shooting at who, or to be a target for known sex pests.
Well, to be honest, I don’t even look for RP there, since it feels like there is no on-grid RP left and my friends left. It doesn’t really seem functional anymore
For what it may be worth, there is a weight system in play. However, calling it a system is ludicrously generous; since the numbers that go with each item are never explained, it’s no more effective than having no weight system at all.
And yup. I mean, comparing it to a MUD, which had a functional weight system… yeah. Even if I had to have the weight system open on an external utility to see how weighed down I was, they were transparent about how it worked. On AoA it is random guesses, frankly.
@Jennkryst Don’t forget.
Everything has weight, when you try to pick something up while over capacity, you are told it is too heavy, so you need to put something in a locker.
Is it ever told to the player when they buy something or just carry something? No. It comes out of nowhere and is intransparent. If they want to cut down on bloat, they could communicate said ‘weight’ system instead of making it annoying when you want to, say, mod someone’s weapon as a Mando. So, they drop it, you want to pick it up, but needed to run to the locker to put your own weapons away to be able to pick their’s up.

There have also been roughly 3 bbposts since June, and there is currently only 1 event posted, run by Hadrix himself on his Reverberate staff bit. Only two people have signed up, and one of them is a different staffer.
Looks like things are going super well over there.
Absolutely. I ran things. Right now, they have 2 events. Both having two people signed up. Hadrix ran big things. Something like 8 people. 2 people were my standards, due to weird hours to run on.
Even on the Mando Board, Sumi and Hadrix seemed to implement monthly Beskar-giveaways. They ceased to do that in May.
By the way some hilarity. So, remember when I mentioned a gripe about shops? I bought one back, that was last week, so no booting for idleness.
Then there is this… very professional removal. No mail why I don’t own the vendor, just booted from owning. Maybe they noticed I didn’t pose since March. So, Cujo or Banshee being arbitrary, as there was no rule towards ownership in regards to activity, only collecting profits.
Oh, another thing. I don’t entirely understand how they had 700 players recently.
This seems inflated. Even in Covid-Highs, we didn’t use to have so much activity.
@Polk You were great too Also, in some hilarity, I eventually got the winged cat. I think I posted it as a joke request, an admin noticed it after a few months and… approved it. Without checking exactly what the changing breed was.
Well, here I am, necroing again.
I logged out of spite. Once a month. Game is dead, btw. Sumi, Had and basically nothing else. Just their clique.
Well, I logged in, 99% sure my spite was just often enough to keep my shops. Didn’t want them to get snatched up by a Kora, I was petty.
Well, I no longer own them. Sure, one was renamed, of course without asking… didn’t say anything. Tinfoil hat on, I think it might actually have been by Cujo noticing I didn’t RP for, what, half a year? I still have the ships. I still have everything that isn’t a shop.
Now, I admit, it has nothing to do with Hadrix, but I am very bitter another old shop was just redesced. After being told I couldn’t rename one I wanted to use for RP since it was 20 years old. But yeah, rules for thee but not me. Fuck AoA, but well. I think I said so before, I miss the game. Well, not the staff. Not the Kora. But I miss my friends, who left. I miss the RP.
Just ending up without stuff I built up in RP and having it redone without question not even like a week in… it hurt. Not as much as losing my friends on there, but… still. Not good.
Thanks for coming to this rant.
Well, an update. I don’t know what to say about AoA. I log in out of spite, to keep the things I built up. And AoA seems kinda dead
They put up an ad for special stormtroopers for the Sith out. While they only have one regular one, everyone else being fancy jedi. Technically there are noobs, but there doesn’t seem to be on-grid RP during the, admittedly, brief flashes I am ever on there since looking at what AoA became is kind of painful. Gone is the vibrant game, gone are the friends I made there, all which remains is… a tiny game, played by pretty much the same people over and over.
At least once a day, at random times, the items a vendor has for sale are randomly determined. Most of the items a vendor has will be common/uncommon items based on the kind of vendor it is. Armor, weapons, weapon mods, ship mods, etc.
Sometimes, though, rare items will spawn on those vendors. There are a LOT of different rare items in the game including high tier mods, powerful weapons, armor, not-so-powerful weapons/armor that are just… rare for some reason.
Yup. It took me… 2 years to see T1 for pistols (rifles were oddly easy to find good mods for, as a side-note), and usually only a single being sold for 100k. If you had too little money at the moment… tough tits, you are out of luck.
And the system was defended since it encouraged ‘exploration of the grid’… while also getting a softlock on checking vendors if staff felt you checked too many.
And, to, I believe quote Banshee… there are just 300 vendors or so around the whole galaxy. Each of which had a chance to get a rare item that day.
@kalakh Yup. I mean, I suspect it is Banshee, who got his old Force-Twink back, but still.

I have a feeling the game will fall long before the Sith Empire does.
That one was the plan for a bit anyways, I am afraid. Like, make the SE unbeatable before excitement.
Speaking of no headwiz. The leader of the Sith is Darth Omen, since Darth Ferren was one of the players they banned

Yeah
Right. Not that it matters, the game feels hollow
Anyways. The amazing Timejump today. Cujo is very much trying to convince people to speedrun CG
Probably to pretend the game isn’t dying.
Now, I also decided to walk around Nar. Found out that shops were moved… without consultation because you are just an ‘investor’ and… one of my alt was renamed. No consultation.
That is just me being bitter because changing descs and moving names is bad if YOU want to do it. Because… things were always like this for 20 years, open your own place. But Staff? Oh. Let’s give it the very much not overblown:
Blast Zone Exotic Arms
rather than the nice Missing Digits. Nope. They never even asked. Not that I play, really… it had been some 2 months since I played. Ever since the Timejump was announced my motivation was low. Why do I even log on? Probably to follow the game, to see what goes on. But it kinda… stings.
@Roz Yup. I estimate it is… maybe 8 real players. Pretty much the clique left. 43 players, and only 26 weekly noms…

I hereby ban any further discussion of Cujo’s Cup because every time someone mentions it my brain whispers two Cujos one cup at me.
Really? I am thinking of the classic Cum Challice for some reason.
@SpilledBeanz said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
throws some red meat, to get things back on track!
AoA staff just wiped the nom counts of most of the banned players, so that Hadrix & Co can bask in the glory of being best. They must feel so proud of themselves.
(The point being the players that were ousted were the game’s best, with the nom counts that went along with that).
Suck it, aoa. You’re a dying game.
Right. Now that I am reading. Yup. And Hadrix is the Queen of Roleplay now…
