I don’t think I’ve ever been told that I was even toeing a line. It’s remarkable how EASY it is to not harass people, it is astounding how EASY it is not to pepper your interactions with unwanted, sexual content, so the fact that he has had to (allegedly) apologize even “a couple of times” for (allegedly) cutting it “close” is incredibly telling.

The response from Hadrix, and those so quick to jump to his defense, is incredibly telling because it is so familiar. There is a reason people do not come forward to accuse their abusers - it almost always makes it worse for the victim while the abuser slides. You see it over and over again with cases like this. I saw it when I reported my assault.

Charisma does not equal innocence. “Well I haven’t seen it” does not equal innocence. If action was going to be taken when these accusations were made and proof was compiled, Cujo would have done so. He didn’t. He continues to not. He clearly doesn’t give a shit.

I am not one of the players mentioned in the original post. What I am is a survivor of sexual assault and I am not sitting around to see nothing done to act on claims made. Not again. I am leaving a game that I have loved and enjoyed for years because I cannot be apart of a community that perpetuates and protects people like this.

It is clear that Cujo and AoA do not care, and it is clear that Hadrix and those close to him do not intend to atone or change. That’s all I need to know. Bye. Do better.

@Lurrr Why would a victim want to identify and out oneself, opening themselves up to any potential danger or revenge that comes with it, without good reason? The post read “if necessary” in terms of providing receipts. If there are admin who want to verify receipts to take action, great. But outing oneself publicly just to satisfy curiosity? That can be legitimately dangerous. There is a time to share that information and that evidence, but it isn’t something that is obligated to satisfy just anyone’s curiosity. Posts like these are not made lightly. As someone who has had very real RL repercussions from animosity on MU, anonymity is the standard until no other options remain.

And at the end of the day, if you’re reporting said behavior you’re already sharing your experience. Verifying it is a valid part of that, especially on a text medium.

Yes. This would have/should have happened when the behavior was reported. Obviously, we are past that. Do try to keep up.

ETA: But also, if you’re on a good game with a good community and good staffers, do those staffers a solid. Don’t put them in a position of having to trust one anonymous name on a screen over another anonymous name on a screen. You don’t really know them. They don’t really know you. There’s really no reason to blindly trust anyone. Make it as easy as possible for them to do the right thing.

This is the point of this whole thread. Staff knows, staff (I assume) was offered the logs and screenshots. Staff, which - again - INCLUDES this slime ball, couldn’t be bothered with the inconvenience of it. That is why this thread is here.

YOU are not obligated to see those logs and screenshots which identify the victims. No one on this forum is. If Cujo swept up in here with the mindset of “I cannot believe that people have been made to feel this way on my game, under my leadership. Let me see this evidence so that we can rectify this and put an action plan in place so that this doesn’t continue to happen. I am taking steps to educate myself on this clearly systemic and pervasive issue on the game I run.”

That is the opposite of what is happening. You have Hadrix and some desperate boot lockers doing everything to discredit this forum and those on it. And cujo is doing - oh, snap, what a surprise - absolutely nothing. Reminds me of - what again? Oh, right, reporting sexual assault in the real world. I hate to keep playing that card, but you know what sucks worse than hearing someone bring up their assault? Being assaulted, not being believed, and being actively punished for “ruining someone’s reputation” when you have text proof. Funny how that culture and mindset bleeds over.

People do not come here to air shit like this because they have a vendetta or love drama. They come here because they DID bring this to staff and staff made their priorities clear. Now it’s just whistleblowing so that people A) go into this game with a fair warning of what to expect, or B) avoid this game because this crosses, as it did mine, a moral boundary, or C) so that the public outrage can actually stir SOME sort of action from the spineless sycophants that are perpetuating and enabling this culture.

Option C isn’t going to happen. Clearly.

So, unless YOU are Cujo and you are coming to OP and victims with your hat in your hand, stop demanding “proof” and instead listen to what people - MULTIPLE PEOPLE - are saying. There is proof. You are not obligated to it. Sit down and listen, unless you are able to do something about this.

Convenient that everyone who spoke up, or was friends with the fired staff, was purged from the game before Cujo released a statement.

There are inaccuracies. There are no mentions of multiple other people who stepped forward with claims. There are flat out lies about the removed staff. There is no mention of Cujo’s own questionable behavior. He has been quick to denounce this website as a whole. He’s covering his ass, he’s covering Hadrix’s, and he’s throwing the people who spoke up under the bus.

My alts were deleted, wiki access revoked, main character (I believe) thrown into an off grid room. I did not plan on returning to the game with Cujo and Hadrix on staff, but am allowed to be angry about the blatant power and revenge trip - and I’m not even INVOLVED. I was only vocal. The same has been done to other players as well.

500+ comments on a pervasive culture of toxicity and predation, complete with allegations against both Cujo and Hadrix, who was promoted to staff anyway, and yet they’ve done nothing wrong.

It’s worth noting that ONLY the people who were on the noms list had their noms wiped. They aren’t even hiding it well lol

ALSO the guy that they were so proud of banning was still on the noms board until this. So, this “banning policy that has always been there” (which magically was enacted to ban everyone suspected of involvement or guilty of checks notes being angry that this harassment occurred) didn’t apply to David Ironsides - who was sending people sexual images a YEAR AGO - until they pulled this.

They were quicker to take action against the staffer who moved against predators than they were the actual predators. They were quicker to take action against people who said “uhhhh this seriously happened and y’all didn’t care???” or who were simply ASSOCIATED with the people who moved against predators than they were the predators.

So much for “Standard procedure”.

Myself and (possibly) other users have been wiped from the Wiki page. I’m not sure if my own removal is because I blasted the link to this forum on +pub or because I included the link on my Wiki page with a short message about how much I’ve loved this game and the stories I’ve told, but that a moral boundary has been crossed.

I had already left the game over this, but now all those logs, my character page, art - all gone.

They are actively blasting people who dissent, and anyone who tries to speak with Cujo about this situation get “well you can leave.”

They’re wiping characters, removing staff, and doing their best to silence discussion, discredit this medium, and discredit those speaking out.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

ETA: When looking at wiki updates, it shows that pages have been removed, but information on what they are has been redacted. It APPEARS that I have been the only user page removed at this time. Which means that it IS because I linked on the wiki. That does show who I am so lol hi, I played Jehni’va Cihn. Picture added.

I definitely gave my piece on this topic in another thread, but I’ll say it again: receipts/logs/evidence MAY go to the people who can (and SHOULD) take action where appropriate. They are not owed to community members - especially those who have a relationship with the accused, especially when this evidence reveals victim identities.

If I’m pinging a staff just to say “hey just a heads up, X player made some pretty borderline comments and it threw a few red flags. Just FYI.” It’s “cool thanks for the heads up, we’ll keep an eye on that.” And then staff should ACTUALLY keep an eye on that.

If its “player X has committed a bannable offense, here’s a pastebin and the time of the incident.” That’s a different story. Now it is the responsibility of the staff to review that and take action. If the evidence doesn’t show actions worthy of the ban but DOES raise alarm bells, it is also the responsibility of staff to keep tabs and make sure that there haven’t been other reports on that player and to take action with letting that player know that they have been toeing a line and will be banned if it continues. And following through on that. If it’s a legitimate misunderstanding or overreaction, staff needs to communicate that with the reporting player.

When staff fails in this regard, they are failing to protect the players in their space and are unequipped to leadership.

I think that’s a point the random people who scream for receipts are missing - you are not entitled to that. A victim has already done their duty by saying “hey, this player has been an issue”. That’s all they owe you, random fanboy.

Most people in this hobby can point to a time that they had a negative interaction with a sex pest. AT LEAST once, typically more. Stop acting surprised and screaming for receipts.

To be clear, Trashcan speaks his mind and it’s one of the things I appreciate about him. He is also a phenomenal staffer and player who put a great deal of work into creating content - ESPECIALLY content geared towards new players. Definitely not the villain - at least not for this story lol

Yeah, my thought when I first learned. It’s not very visible, and from what I was told the usual suspects (and not talking Hadrix here because I never heard his name connected with this, but the known sex pests on the game) were the “clients”, but it was there. Also Nar Shaddaa is the drop-off point for almost all noobs, so the sex pests kind of congregate there to intercept new female characters and see if they can maneuver them towards their ships and eventual nakedness. It’s a Sex Panther thing for them, “60% of the time, it works every time!”

So, yes, this is a thing. There are characters who operate as active sex workers on grid; at least there’s explicit consent there. At least I fucking hope there is - but nothing here ceases to surprise me. There is literally a club called Twi’licks for this purpose. I’ve wandered into one of the clubs and asked someone to scene and they’ve told me they’re working and looking for that kind of rp.

Which, again, with consent? Knock yourself out. I have no issue with it, even if it’s not my cup of tea (notably the characters who play enslaved sex workers).
However, it’s clear that there IS a massive fucking issue of consent on this game. Whether or not it exists in those specific rings of play, I can’t say.

This is a game. It’s a hobby. No one should feel sexually pressured, harassed, or unsafe - there’s enough of that in the real world. The issue at hand is that when STAFF are the perpetrators, judges, and executioners and you wind up with massive “not-bannings” of players that had the GALL to say “yeah maybe sexual harassment is a bad thing”, were friends with people who said that, or even worse for saying “I’ve been a victim of a sexual offense on this game”.

While the game has many faults, I think that the conversation at hand is more about this and player safety than it is about xp.

That was the wrong choice of word on my part. I didn’t mean to impart judgement on RL sex workers. The current conversation on the player base causes pause on the in-game institution, especially when people are playing out fantasies of being enslaved and put into sex work or interacting with characters who have. It’s Star Wars canon, but so is the word “shit” and we’re not allowed to say that on AoA.

But, again, if there’s consent? Idgaf. It’s fair to worry that that isn’t the case with the AoA IC sex workers, but I have not seen otherwise in my time on the grid.
